HIGHER DENHAM COMMUNITY CIO [HDC CIO] – ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2021
HDC CIO is a local residents organisation which owns a community hall and the adjacent sports field. It maintains both the hall and the field from revenue gained by hiring these out; the hall for a wide variety of mainly health related activities but also for senior lunches and private parties and the field for use by football teams, but otherwise the local community has free access to the field. HDC CIO also acts as a link between the local community and the Parish Council and the Bucks County Council, and various other groups.
COVID restrictions meant that activities of all kinds were severely reduced in the first half of the year along with the resultant income but this gradually returned to near normal levels in the second half, with a particularly successful Fireworks Night in November. Nevertheless, the year would have shown a loss but for the Government grant of £8000 that was obtained.
Plans to build a new hall were also impacted by Covid and little progress was made on the plans although this has resumed in 2022.
As mentioned above, a small profit was made in 2021 and the yearend balance sheet shows at least one year’s survival even in the absence of any further income; a situation that we have no reason to expect to occur.
The treasurer is looking for sources of fund to build the new hall, and it will not be built unless and until it can be funded.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER REPORT I have examined the books and records of the Higher Denham Community Association CIO for the year to 31 December 2021. My examination included consideration of unusual items and disclosures in the records and profit and loss account and balance sheet, and seeking explanation5 from the Treasurer in respect of matters that required further detail. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the eviden that would be required in an audit and. consequently. no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a °true and fair view" and this report is limited to those matters set OLrt in the statement below. In connection with my examination, no material matter has come to my attention, or been left unresolved, which would lead me to believe that the requirements under the Charities Act to keep proper accounting records and prepare accounts from those records, have not been met. nor in my opinion are there matters to which attention should be drawn in order to provide a proper understanding of the accounts. to be reached. 11 Dalton Independent Examiner 14 October 2022
