associated resouftes-and these can be indNiduals, thvrthes. sthools and other oT8anlsations. Customers
Include pastors, church leaders bible students. misstonaries. youth wty*ers and the general public. The main
retail outlet is in NeW(on AbboL Devon, wth other outlets across Scmrth i)evon includin8 book agents and
bookstalls located in churthes. The CIO will also probide twksthlis at conferences, exhibit￿￿5, festivals and
other community events.
At the date of this report. the 00 h45 nOtfUl￿ taken overthe operatlon of Choke Words. The planned
sChed￿let0 do so has been delayed by the impact of the pandemic durSn8the 12 months to 31° January 2021
nd also due to the hospttalisation of one of the trustees and c￿f￿jnder5 of ChoKe Words for three months
during this period and also herontoing absence from Ctholce Words since dischar8e from hospital. While
govemment restrittlons were Ki place. the shop and outlets We￿ c105ed for an extended perSod of week5 and
the conference centre p￿￿0￿s￿ hosUn8 a choi￿ Words outlet closed permanently. However, an online and
delivery service was operated for customers. As per the prevlous publit statement conflrniing the Intentlon of
the CIO to take over the day today running of operatlons. thètrustees ha¥È tontlnued to attivety operate
fuftdra1sl￿ atlSvltles to make thls happen.
As part of thSs Pr￿ess. a stttk)n of the Nevrton Abbot shop continues to be dedicated to second hand b¢xJk
sales, the proceeds of which all 80 dlrectly to the CIO. Thetrustees also tontinued to operate its Fdends ol
Choke Wortls scheme thrOug￿￿t the year *therecustomers and supportèrs pay an annual or monthlv
membershlp subscriptlon to be a Friend. the proceeds of whlch go dlrectfy to the charity. ¢nablin8 Custorners
to support the tharity and xcesslng 5Ptcffic member benefits at the same tlme. The Cknlce Words CIO
websitè, launched in 2019. has continued to be the main publlc online face of the char￿. On806n8 emall
communlcatlons with the Frientls and also communtstkn)s wa O)oKe Words, Facebook ￿8t have contlnued
to ralse the profile of Choice Words CIO and awarene55 of ihe Chari￿s ML$sh￿ and vlsicffi.
Desplte the challenges des£dbed during the 12 months to 3111 January 2021. the net income for Cholce Words
CIO Increased 518nillcantly when compared to the prior IZ morrth perlod.
