We will be possibly looking at revising our CIO constitution next year, since it will be nearly a decade since we adopted it. When we registered our charity, the Charity Commission had just launched the new CIO format. There is an updated version of the CIOs Foundation Model launched in 2023. We want to update our constitution to reflect these changes and make it fully compliant with the new recommendations, as well as making some amendments to reflect the needs of our charity, especially after having bought our permanent premises.

Our present structure is the following:

Mr Muhammad Isa Abdullah – Chairman Mr Dawood Abowath – Vice-chairman

Mr Rashid Panchbhaya – Vice-chairman

We have also revised and adopted new policies for our CIO to make it fully compliant with the policies recommended by the Charity Commission.

On Grant-making:

You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about:

An initial financial contribution would be paid once (and for a limited number of times) to a person who has just embraced the faith to support them in the financial strains that their new circumstances bring about in his/her life until he/she regains stability or can stand on his/her own feet financially.

Our charity has newly adopted an Investing Charity Funds Policy. However, we will not undertake lucrative investments ventures to benefit the CIO, for as long as our loans acquired to purchase our permanent premises have not been paid off. At present our raised funds are only directed towards the repayment of loans acquired to purchase this property. This purchase has now enabled the CIO to discontinue paying rent for temporary leased property.

All the activities undertaken by this CIO are performed by the valuable first-hand contributions of trustees and volunteers in terms of giving up their valuable time to pursue our charity's objectives.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Following the purchase of our charity’s property in November 2023. We started renovating it. The charity was fully refurbished by February 2024.

We also refurbished the charity’s new property to comply with all regulations in terms of safety, security, fire regulations, electricity, and all necessary building regulation policies. Our property opened to the public in mid-February 2024.

With the purchase of our property our activities have expanded. This year we focused primarily on embedding our initial faith-specific classes to the new Muslims who have contacted us to benefit from our services, as this is the core of our activities. We can say confidently that our classes have tripled, thus consolidating this service.

Our presence in the internet has been expanding, thus making people more aware of our services. Various organisations have contacted us for guidance on various topics, e.g. support to New Muslims, issuance of faith certificates, and dissemination of literature produced by ourselves etc.

• We intend to continue providing reliable Islamic literature and other faith resources to Muslim prisoners in the prison estate throughout the whole of UK which would contribute to their reducing re-offending and also serve as a tool of deradicalization.

• To increase the frequency of food collections to support the local charities, other organisations and public institutions that look after the local people living in different types of crises, void of resources to look after their own subsistence needs.

• To introduce faith-specific classes to the local neighbours in order to enhance their religious practice.

• Commencing faith classes for children will also be considered by the trustees, after ensuring all procedures are in place, now that a Safeguarding policy has been adopted. Children of New Muslims will be able to benefit from these services.
