## **Objectives and Activities**

SORP reference
Summary of the Para 1.17 1)The advancement of education
purposes of the charity among the people living in the Kyrgyz
as set out in its Republic by the provision of English
governing document language classes, facilities and
equipment for education.
2) To develop the capacity and skills
of the members of socially and
economically disadvantaged
communities in the Kyrgyz Republic in
such a way that they are better able
to identify and help meet their needs
and to participate more fully in
society.
Summary of the main Para 1.17 and 1. The professional development
1.19
activities in relation to course for 40 Kyrgyz teachers
those purposes for the of the English language which
public benefit, in had been rescheduled from the
particular, the activities,
previous year, because of
projects or services
political violence in the
identified in the
province, was rescheduled for
accounts.
May 2020. But the covid crisis
made that impossible too.
2. The educational “Gateway
Project” continued on-line
because of the lock-down in
Kyrgyz schools which started on
16 March 2020. However at
the beginning of the quarantine
only 30 to 35 of our 96
students had the necessary
equipment to be able to avail
themselves of the on-line
tuition The number gradually
grew to 67 later on.
**----- End of picture text -----**
3. We have been able to purchase 8 new internet-phones to provide some of our most disadvantaged children with the necessary equipment to follow their lessons online. These phones are on loan from our organisation under a contract with the parents.

4. In May 2021 we had to report in detail again to BFSS on our activities during the covid crisis. 5. In August 2020 we applied for and obtained an additional covid-related grant from BFSS for £ 1,677 to enable us to prolong our educational “Gateway Project” beyond July 2021 till December 2021. This extension was an attempt to compensate for the loss of face-to-face tuition caused by the lock-down. In fact, unfortunately, by the end of September 2021, not all the school was functioning face-toface yet, only certain school years. 6. Our two teachers have worked during the holiday and the autumn of 2020 on a voluntary basis to provide instructions to 87 teachers on how to teach online. They have consistently helped them to update their systems too. Our IT teacher has now extended his tuition and support to teachers in a neighbouring school. He has spent many hours repairing and installing systems. He is providing technical consultations to all teachers in the community three days a week as a volunteer and has

written an extensive Handbook
to help all these colleagues. He
has enrolled the voluntary
assistance of a friend to help
with technical improvements
not only in our project but all
around the wider school.
7. There was a successful
response to our newsletter of
February 2020, in which we
related the effects of the
humanitarian donations
towards covid relief and the
installation of the 11
washbasins in School 77.
As a result of that letter and of
the videos a Swiss foundation,
FMM, offered to support the
Gateway Project for 48,000
euros (£41,000) over two years.
The project has now been
extended from three to five
days a week and from 85
students to 150. A formal
Agreement about the reporting
arrangements and the parties’
respective responsibilities was
signed in September 2021
directly between the Buchur
Development Center and FMM.
The Erayim Aid Trust UK
remains as a facilitator and
consultant in that relationship.
Statement confirming Para 1.18
whether the trustees The Trustees have had due regard to
have had regard to the the Commission’s public benefit
guidance issued by the guidance when exercising any powers
Charity Commission on or duties. They believe that they
public benefit adhere to this guidance through the
charity’s objectives and activities.
**----- End of picture text -----**
