Our year began in and ￿th the heart of OUT community as fits perfectlyvrith ouraims as a Eroup. we partlcipated In an
inau8ural Town-wide comrnunity day. which saw a dwerse set of groups comir$8to8etherto Improve ￿th the quallty of life
and environment collertively for Broadstaiis. That supwrting of and collaboration with oihergroups continued throughout
the year. We also happily accepted donation5 of time and ski115 from awrted businesses. both local and national and local
colle8es and schools to help with projerts.
The Broadstalrs Beacon, Thanet Community Ad Magazlne. Isle of Thanet News online both 68C Radlo Kent and
Academy FM continued to support our projects by featuring and publicisin8 all the efforts of our many volunteers. TheSr
5upporr over the last 11 years has been tonsistentand arnazin& and we thank ihem for thelr bellef, support and
amplrfication of what we try and do.
Fundralsln8
The fundin8 we need to sustèln all our project5 and support us In making a difference is always front of Mind. This year we
received and managed an enormous range and b￿adth of funds and lundralsln8 and 8rants to help us. all of whlch we are
enormously grateful for. From Tesco and Asda superrnarket tokens. through raffles. product sales, a lar8e crowdfundin8
campaign, individual donations, pub quizzes. one off donatlons. the proceeds ol a community preloved bookshelf. an
u¢tion, grants from Natlonal Lottery, ouf Town Ctsuncll, natlonal ch¥ritable indivbdual and corporate trusts. From tiny 10
sl8nifieant donations and fundralsln& eveMhlng we raise goes to fund our carefully managed project5 and Inltlatlves and
we are Sncredlbly proud and enorrnously 6rateful to everyone that has facilltated thai and brou8ht those project5 to Ilfe for
Broad5tslrs and beyond.

to tourour Bowls ol Hope across Kent to bring hope and ralse awaieness of sukide prevention.
We added an addltlonal tspenln£ day providin8 Quieter powered down Creatlve Frldays. This Is a chance to enjoy arts and
wood related crafts, especlally for those that may find the busyThes5 ènd nolse of our Shed workshop days challenglng.
We continued to dellver and develop our Nourlsh & Flour5sh pro8ramrne for Shedders and partnerèd with My Future Care
Matters In dellverlng essential life plannlng for older a8e. We partnered wlth UKM&4 in the creation of a serles of wellbelng
videos, alrned at Men, lor national dI5tributlon. Areas covered wer¢ bereavernent. livln8 wlth dementla. suicide prevention
and soclal Isolation.
Wlth the support of the Know Yotsr Nel8hbourhood Scheme. we launched ourcommuThity workshops where volunteers
share their creative skllls. These were bespokè creaisve workslM)ps. centred around the In(Jt¥idual group's needs. and
dellvered externally or In house. We now deliver to a host of commvnity groups including Carers Support East Kent. The
Wlndmill Community Garden. Chan8ing Minds Kent. and Bradstow School.
We went bu8 house crary with a communlty partnershipvAth Ihkwood Homes to deliver 50 bughou5es to local schoolg
and communlty groups.
We switched èll Il&hts to LEO.
We dellvered Menial Health Flrst Ald tralning to our volunteer5 to enable them to act asa first poirit of contact, and
support, for any of our Shedders in need.

April saw ourfirst titterpick of the season lone of 20 during whlch wecollected over 350 bags of rubbishl. We stopped for
the summer period as usual and reconvened in Ottober. Addttional fundlng was raiseil foi new kit too- which we have lenl

This year saw an extension of this fabulous and well-loved project into a second site in 5t. Peteds village. The tearn a150 held
4 more'seed swap and plant share, cornmunity sessions. giving away l and I￿ tum recelvingl hundreds of thousands of
plants and seeds. encouraging people of all aees to have a go at growing theirown at horne and sharingthe love of working
together as 5rn011 youps to make big differences.

Our 8 sites continue to flourish thanks to the unerring dedication and donation of time from our volunteerB3rdens teams.
Thls yearfs RHS'lt's Your Nel8hbourhood judging happened in June. and In October, the￿[ efforts were rewarded yet 8831n
wfth 'Outstanding' classtfication on several of the gardens. even beating their marks from last year. We hosted even more
talks and gatherings of local garden enihuslasts and experts to share our passion for plants and 8ardening.Particular
3ttention was given this year to the sustainability and practit*s across all the site wè maintaln and focusing very much on
encoura85n8 wildlife too. Guest volunteers joined u5 for many sessions helping Wlth the heavler work too.

Our project'BroadstaSrs Town Shed. Is almed pAmarily at older men. a group tradllionally under represented In £ommunlty
and social actlvities. Lonellness. Isolatlon and depresslon are hi6h rlsk factors for this 8roup. Thanet is the most deprSved
distrlct in Kent and Broadstairs has the highest number of over 655 in the county, $0 the project fulfils a particularlv
slgnlflcant role wlthln the county. Whllsi Inltlally almed at older men weare pleased to welcome others to the Shed- all
are welcome.
The Broadstair5 Town Shed offers older people the opportunity to take part in re8ular woodworking sessions and offers
space for ski115 to be shared and learnt. friendships to be Made and projects completed. Shedder5 pay mèmbership lees to
contrSbute to the runnin8 Costs of the Shed.
But the Shed is so much more than woooknrkirrfj. We have a Nourish Fk)urish programrre for our Shedde¥s which
provid8s w*ll-being SUPPOrt lor our Shedder
Our town 8nd lik• to lo look its l)95t with liw P￿￿1￿ gard•nin9 •v•nts. It 15 a￿•y$ gr•at fun and
so satisfying to see rhe difference we can make if we pull together for the good of the town.
Our Gardens Group now have eight sites around the town which ourvolunteergardeners maintsin- it make so much
difference to how the town look5. Su5tainablity is an important part of what thls group do. This year we were awarded
'Outstandine' by the Royal Horticultural Societyon a number of ¢)urgardens.
Tasty Planters is a project where planters made by the Town Shed have been Set up in Pierremont Park and St Peter5 Wlth
vegetable$ and other edlble plants and flowers. The planiers a￿ maintained by volunteer5 and the producels avallable to
all. This has resulted In a number of plant and share events and excellent feedback and engagement from the comn)unlty,
ncludSng many people who have nevergrown theirown food before.

Broadstairs Town Team Limtted was Incorporated on 9July 2014. The company is lirnited by guarantee and was established
under a Memorandum of AÉsociation and is govemed under its Arti¢l¢s of Agtotiation alamond￿ on 14 July 2015.
The company was re8lStered as a charity on 11 September 2015. The company was dormant untll l October 2015. whèn
the attivltles and funds of the 8roadstairs Town Team community8fOUP were trarssferred to the charity.
Rotruitment and appointment of ne4¥trust•e$
The dlrector5 of the company are also charfly trusiees for ihe purwses of charfty law. Trustees are subject io a rolllng
three yearly appointment ènd the chair is appointed by the trustees. New trustees ale appolnted at the AGM. All trustees
8lvè thelT time voluntarlly and recelve no beneflts from the chartty.
