**DAUGHTERS OF THE WIND**

## SAKURA

A Celebration of Japanese Culture (working title)

THE GREAT WINTER A Nordic Folklore Inspired show (working title)

## DAUGHTERS OF THE WIND

An emotional Arabian Peninsular Dance Musical for the first time bringing together song, ballet and the ‘50 for 50’ fine art series.

Sakura is a celebration of Japan today.

SAKURA meaning ‘blossom’ in Japanese, explores the idea of transition, transformation and reinvention. The show features a live choir, Taiko drummers and multidisciplinary performers from Japan.

Drawing on traditional Japanese art forms, Mark Baldwin unites multi disciplinary performers in this work.

This contemporary dance troop includes Master Samuri Tetsuro Shimaguchi (Kill Bill) alongside Royal Ballet’s Taisuke Nakao and Nao Sakuma.

The Great Winter is a story of the past touching touching the present. In the deep winter of the far north, up where the sun gets lost and where winter seems to last a whole life time, there is an orphan girl, Lena.

This is a major new Sisters Grimm production rooted in Nordic and Viking folklore, told through song and dance, with a compelling narrative written by award winning writer James Phillips and performed by Joely Richardson, Alfie Boe & London Contemporary Voices.

This will be a large scale spectacle show set within an atmospheric snowy landscape.

An allegorical tale told in music, in words, in dance that fuses the cultural riches of the Arabian peninsula with those from across the globe and reaffirms the truth that together is stronger than alone.

The story takes place in a coastal desert setting where we are introduced to our protagonist, an Emirati woman and her horse as she strives to make a difference in the world for future generations.

Daughters Of The Wind Overture ballet film, directed by Jhenyfy Muller based on a story by Stephen Powell, shot at Dubai Opera with former Royal Ballet dancer and co-founder of Sisters Grimm Pietra Mello-Pittman MBE alongside Arab Singers DB Gad and Madyan Hamza.

## ALBANIA ART IN NATURE

Alastair King-Smith, newly-arrived British Ambassador to Albania, called today on Prime Minister Edi Rama. Commenting after the meeting, Alastair said _“It was a great privilege to signal how we plan to broaden and deepen the UK’s relationship with Albania by handing over such a stunning painting of the Shala river by British artist Ella Spira MBE. The painting captures the beauty and attraction of Albania – a fantastic tourist destination that few have explored. It was gifted in recognition of how Albanians have shown such generous hospitality to so many people in need over the years, most recently those escaping violence in Afghanistan._ _**I was honoured to explain to the Prime Minister how the artist and her business partner were planning to expand their ground-breaking Art in Nature Global programme to Albania, which he warmly welcomed”.**_

Spira, a British Grammy nominated composer, painter and co-founder of production company Sisters Grimm, created the painting ‘Shala River’ in situ in the Albanian Alps. “The purpose of the painting is to celebrate the natural beauty of Albania with an underlying message of environmentalism, providing a new platform to discuss political relations.”
