Constltutlon
Aspire Ryde is re￿"ste￿ wlth the Charlty Commlsslon as a tharitable Incorporated
Organisation and is governed by its Constitutlon.
Governance and mana8•ment
The or8anisation has a board of Trustees who operate in a voluntsry capaclty. They meet
several times each year to govern the organ15atlon. They ensure that full accountsblllty and
transparency are In place. They have appolntsd a Chlef Executfve Officer ICEO) wlth some
delegated authorlty to undertake the day-to4lay operatlon and further development of the
charity on their behalf. Mr Robert (Bob) White has continued as Chair throughout 2024 with
Dr Nicholas England as Vice(hair.
Trust•e selectlon
A skills-based analysis is used to help identify what skills are required forthe effective running
of the or8anisation. This means recruitment can be specifically focused on recruiting Trustees
with the best skill base for the identified gaps. Trustees are also chosen to reflect the Christlan
ethos of the organisation. This leads to a robust board who are able to make good and well
thought throu8h decisions. The Bishop of Portsmouth also has the right to nominate one
person to become a trustee of Aspire Ryde.
2024 has seen the departure of one Trustee and we are actively seekSn8 to recrult addltional
Trusteeswiththe relevantskillsand experienceto lead a large organisation. We are extremely
grateful to those who have served and stepped down from this role in the past year.

The Trustees and CEO routlnely examlne the organlsatlon and Its reputstlonal and operatlonal rlsks when
preparin8 Stratrgic plan5 and developin8 pfojects. A corporate rlsk reglster Is presented at Trustee meetin8S
ensuring that or8anisatlonal risks are at the forefront of all deci5ioTrmakin8. Furthermore* regular ieports of

In detall. Asplre Ryde has developed a good range of policy d0￿MentS to underpin how it oper*es so it is
fair, consistent and can demonstrnte 8ood prnctice. Risk assessments are undertaken for each project •nd

doing through Asplre and to seek hls wlsdom for

In 2024 we celebrated our 10 Annlversary. and
how far we have corne in such a short timel As we
temporarily moved out of our high street premlses
to build housing and greater cornmunity access.
we reflected on the amazing journey from a small
start-up charity to now re3chin8 every part of the
Island through the work that we do.
In connecting with thousands of people each year,
we are able to offer help and hope to some of the
most vulnerable rnember5 of our community.
l am so grateful to our amazing team of Stsff and
volunteers. and to the Trustees for their on80in8
5UPPOrt and leadership, but most of all to our amazing heavenly father for his 8uidance and
provislon in all that we do.

Fundin8 for the development of seven flats was finally secured In June 2024 and work started In October
2024. Thls has meant the shop movln8 Into ternpornry accommodatlon whibt the builders undertake the
necessary work. Alongside the flats. the 8round floor wlll host o cafè, our ¥￿kOMe desl Bike and
furnlture pffjjects, alonlskle a smaller shop. A dlsabled toilet will •lso benefit servlce users and the
wider ￿MmunIty.
Revenue has Sncre¥sed in the ￿ar. lar8efy due to increased furniture sales and. a8aln, this has
helped to fund other sep4ices ¥4Ythin Asplfe. Due to the need to shrknk the footprint within the
tempornry and refurb15hed buildin& some projects have ceased or reduced in $12e. The sewin8 8roup
have moved back to Dover street and the upvffjllng Zroup has stopped for the t5me belng.
Once a8•in. we are exlremely 8rthful to t)ur staff and partltularly to the numerous volunteers
who work on the hi8h street and who are so dedicated to the work beln8 done.

The Charity has made a surplus within the 2024 fin•ntial year. Thls was laryety due to acilon taken In 2024 to
restructure and to reverse defidts caused by the cost of livin8 crtsls. Includln8 Infiationary Pressu￿ s. In addltlon,
we were fortunate to be in reteipt of addttional grant income which ha5 improved the overall financ41 wsltlon.

repurposing the ground floor to develop communlty support on the hr8h streeL We plan to open this facility
towards the end of 2025.
