Our volunteers are the backbone of our
or8anisation and an important and valuable
resource wrih approxlmately 80 people involved at
vaiiou5 levels. Volunteers manage, run and support I
the Community Centre, coffee shop and working
8rtsups.
Sub 8roup5 511PPQrt vur communrty by takin8 care
of planted areas in the villa8e. distributin8 our
magazine, painting and decoraiing, clearing open
spaces etc as well 35 joining in the many activities
they help to run.

To enhance the centfe we havÈ launched two major

The development of the community
centre'5 Qutside 5pace- this includes
raised beds. community garden and sitting
areas, hard space for parkin& provision of
a converted shipping container to act as
storage for gardening equipment and a5 a
meetin8 pl¥e. It is expected that this will
bring In new volunteers and artivities for
the communitv.
An access road is also planned
Reduction of our carbon footprlnt by
increasing enef8y conseryation wlthin the
building. This will include lowering ceillnBs,
increasèd insulatbon. x)lar panels,
i115tallation of a morè @fficient boiler and
S￿eM to lone heatlll8 areas.
OperJil&wI iroup- take care ofthe centfe ￿kIng
after the rnaintenance, bookings and general day to
day running of the centre. The introduction ol'jtsst
one thSn( has brou6ht in new volunteers the help
in various areas inclvding handyman job5.
Coffee shop- open 2 to 3 hrs 3 times a week is very
busy, even with low price5 profit5 have rlsen. It has
the largest number of 14olunteers in our organisation
beinz involved in variou5 way5 from bJkln8 to
5eNn&

installed thanks to fvnding received adding 10 the
resi of the planters planted and maintainèd bv
volunteers.
-The Commufi￿ Orchard contlnve5 to be visiied by
many people of various ages including 8roups of
hi5dren from the k)cal primary xhool eg"Autumn
in the Orchard. Volunteers meei to maintain areas
cutting back brambles, prunin& planting bulbs and I
bit of strimming etc. The grass cutting team frorn
Ihe local council IKirkleesl mow a pathway up and
around the trees.
The 22 han8ing baskets which enhance the ¥illa8e
durin8 summer. continue to be funded by the
proceed5 01 the 2¢XI club which now has 285
membeis.

owned land next to the centre as well as
maintaining the Immediate area around the centre
Minr Recyding Hub- volunteers have receThtly
developed a mini rerycling hub at the centre where
residents are encouraged to bring a variety of
