Second Hope is one of the only charities exclusively supporting
those with Advanced Breast Cancer, and fvnding r8988rch into the
condition. The charity 13 run purely by volunteers which means Ihat
all donations racelved go to fijllil our charltable alms and

Cancer
There have been many advances in the trealm8nt ol breast cancer. bul
the fact remains that c30Yo of breast cancer sufferers wll develop
metastatic disease. sometimes year8 after their initial diagnosis.
Sometimes people will go for monthg with unexplained symptoms wlthoul
r881ising they may be connected to thelr previous breast cancer
diagnosls.
We aim to ralse awareness and Increase knowledge of the d588as8 by
providing detalled informatlon on advanced bmst cancer and the
symptoms to look CMJI for.

A secondary diagnosis is devastsling but h Is not an Immediate dealh
senl8nce. Peopl8 can, through drugs and olhèr Ir8alments, achleve long
p8rlds of remission and have 8 good quality of life with thè dls6as6.
We aim to empower those diagnosed wllh advanced breast cancèr by
provlding up lo dale infomialbn on treatment options, local and nallonal
support grwps and, on a practical level, the resources and finan¢lal
benefits that may be 8vallable.
3.To ¢ampalgn on bohall of tho8• aff•¢t￿ by advan¢•d br•a8t canc•r
Despite a number of promlsing new treatments for 8dvanced breast
cancer, NHS funding is not afvays available. Although these treatments
cannot curo advanced breast cancer, they Can provide extra months,
sometimes years, of good quality lrfe, and we believe they Should
available lo all who need them.
We aim lo ensure all advanced brea8t cancer pallents hav8 a¢￿$$ to lrfe
extending drugs and Irealments.
4.To fund research Into advanced breast cancer
Around 30% of breast cancer patients will develop metastatic di8ea8e,
yet it is eslimaled that less that only around 7DA of 811 breast cancer
research fijnding is dedicated to advanced breast cancer.
We aim to increase the proportion of funding which currently goes
towards advanced breast cancer and will only fund peer-reviewed
projects dedicated lo researching advanced breast cancer and potenllal
trealmenls.

We have continued lo support for Second Hope. In lola1, £21,164 was received
through donations, fundraising and a funeral collection in 202>24. £17,964
came directty to Breast Cancer Now and a further £3.2k via the Second Hope
bank account.
This Income wlll ￿ towards general secondary breast cancer research.
