The programme
also provides clear evidence for the case for
support.
During the pandemic, the charity has had to adapt
its work significantly. The call for content
unearthed the incredibly inventive ways people
were keeping themselves busy and entertained.
Working with the team at Skylark Media, the film
was skilfully edited by a local film student from
Temple Cloud and became a 60-minute
documentary entitled ‘Lockdown Liberation’. The
film was launched on YouTube, and gained
significant coverage from local media including
BBC Radio Bristol.|
|---|---|---|---|

Once lockdown restrictions were lifted slightly, the Valley Arts events team started planning a series of Covid-secure outdoor events. These included Bubble Bach in a field, Paddington’s First concert, on a farm, and a remarkable celebration of spoken-word entitled ‘Take Notice’ featuring Bristol City poet in residence Caleb Parkin and others notable poets. This event was live streamed to a national audience. These events were offered free of charge by Valley Arts, to encourage audiences to return to live performances. As lockdown lifted, Valley Arts commenced with indoor shows following Government guidelines, which meant low capacity audiences, though efforts were made at every opportunity to break even. The charity is proud of the fact we saw over 400 participants, and online audiences of nearly 2,000 people, which was a significant achievement in such an extraordinarily difficult year.
