The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their second report, together with the financial statements for the year to 31 August 2025.

Structure, governance and management

Supershoes is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered number 1163157, governed by a Foundation document dated 14 August 2015 and an updated constitution of 28[th] June 2019.

The Trustees are actively involved in the CIO. The existing Trustees have a policy to look for new Trustees, with the necessary skillset as and when required, to take Charity forward from the existing contacts they have, who are like-minded people. When new Trustees join, they are given an informal induction to their role within the Trust and their legal responsibilities.

The day-to-day management of the Charity is delegated to the Trustee, Sarah White.

Objective

The aim of the Charity is to provide activities and items to give comfort to children and young people who are receiving treatment/palliative care for paediatric cancer.

In fulfilment of the above aim, the Trustees believe that the assets of the Charity should be used to support the beneficiaries through art workshops and/or other art-related gifts, where eligibility is met and the person has been referred by our referring partners such as Young Lives vs Cancer (Formally CLIC Sargent). A pair of “Supershoes” will be designed and hand-painted specifically for a child or young person to express all the things they hold dear,

The “Supershoes” are as unique as the child or young person that wears them and acts as reminder to the child of who they are despite their illness, challenges and treatment.

Public Benefit

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Trust’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities.

Investment policy

The Charity’s investment policy is to retain cash so that there is the flexibility to support urgent immediate needs.

Reserves

The Trustees will aim to increase reserves to allow the Charity to give support to beneficiaries as and when the need arises. They are aware of the requirement to keep reserves under review. Total reserves held at 31 August 2025 were in a satisfactory position to allow the Charity to continue delivering “Supershoes” to nominated children and young people.

Risk assessment

The Trustees have experience of risk assessment exercises and have reviewed the activities of the Charity and the risks it faces. From time to time the risks are re-assessed and managed as appropriate.

Fundraising policy

We do not use professional or commercial fundraisers nor approach individuals directly. Donations are received through raising awareness of the Charity through our website and personal invitations to speak at corporate events. We have received no complaints about fundraising for the Charity.

Highlights of activities and achievements 24/25.

At the beginning of the 2024/2025 financial year, Supershoes received a significant financial boost from Lorna’s Legacy, an organisation established in memory of Lorna Greay, who was herself a passionate and valued supporter of the charity. We were incredibly grateful to receive a donation of over £3,000

raised through their “Rutland Variety Performance” fundraiser, demonstrating the continued dedication of the Lorna’s Legacy team to supporting children and young people facing cancer. In addition, Lorna’s Legacy generously pledged a further £2,500 through the Big Give platform, enabling Supershoes apply for the 2025 Big Give Campaign. Their ongoing support not only strengthens our financial sustainability but also honours Lorna’s legacy in a truly meaningful and impactful way.

During the 2024/2025 financial year, our co-founders, Kenneth and Sarah White, were awarded the King’s British Empire Medal for services to children and young people with cancer. This prestigious recognition reflects not only their dedication and commitment, but also the collective passion, compassion, and hard work of the entire Supershoes team and volunteer community. The award highlights the impact Supershoes continues to have in supporting children and young people facing cancer across the UK and serves as a proud moment for everyone involved in the charity’s journey.

Supershoes successfully relocated its charity operations from Milton Keynes to Great Torrington in October 2025. This significant transition was carefully managed to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption to the children and families we support. Although the Milton Keynes office was closed as part of the relocation, we are incredibly proud to have retained the support of three dedicated Milton Keynes volunteers, who continue to contribute remotely from their homes. Their ongoing commitment demonstrates the strength of the Supershoes community and the shared passion that continues to drive our mission forward.

During this financial year, Supershoes reached 611 children and young people with the gift of personalised Supershoes. While this was slightly lower than the previous year, this was largely due to the significant operational transition involved in relocating the charity’s office and infrastructure. Despite this period of change, the charity continued to deliver meaningful support to hundreds of families across the UK, demonstrating the resilience, adaptability, and commitment of the Supershoes team and volunteers throughout the relocation process.

One of the most significant milestones in Supershoes’ history was reached during the 2024/2025 financial year, as we proudly delivered our 8,000th pair of Supershoes. This remarkable achievement represents 8,000 individual children and young people who have received a unique, hand-painted gift during one of the most difficult periods of their lives. Every pair is thoughtfully designed to reflect the child’s personality, interests, and passions, often providing a meaningful emotional boost during long and challenging treatment journeys. Reaching this milestone is far more than a numerical achievement — it is a celebration of the extraordinary volunteers, artists, fundraisers, supporters, and healthcare professionals who make our work possible. It is also a powerful reminder of why Supershoes exists: to ensure every child feels seen, valued, empowered, and celebrated. This achievement has inspired our entire community and strengthened our determination to continue reaching even more children and families in the years ahead.

Art Related Events:

While art remains central to everything we do at Supershoes, there were no formal or external art related events held during the 2024/2025 period as we directed funds towards and focus firmly on fulfilling requests for Supershoes as we worked at reducing our wait times and waiting list.

As we reflect on the 2024/2025 financial year, I feel an enormous sense of pride in everything Supershoes has achieved during what has been a year of significant transition, resilience, and continued

impact. While this year brought change and challenges, it also brought exciting opportunities for growth, stronger community engagement, and an important milestone in our charity’s journey. One of the most defining moments of the year was the successful relocation of Supershoes from Milton Keynes to Great Torrington in October 2025. Relocating the charity’s operational base was a major undertaking and naturally presented challenges in balancing continuity of service alongside the practical demands of moving infrastructure, operations, and resources. Despite this, our incredible volunteers and supporters ensured that children and families remained at the heart of everything we did throughout the transition. I am particularly grateful that we retained the valued support of volunteers from Milton Keynes, who continue to volunteer remotely and remain an important part of the Supershoes family. Although the relocation process meant we reached slightly fewer children this year, we are still incredibly proud to have gifted personalised Supershoes to 611 children and young people undergoing cancer treatment across the UK. Behind every pair of Supershoes is a child facing unimaginable challenges, and we never lose sight of the privilege and responsibility of supporting them during such difficult times.

This year also marked another extraordinary milestone in the history of Supershoes as we proudly delivered our 8,000th pair of Supershoes. Reaching 8,000 children and young people is a truly humbling achievement and reflects the dedication, compassion, and creativity of every volunteer artist, fundraiser, supporter, trustee, and healthcare professional who has helped us along the way. Each pair represents far more than customised footwear — it is a message to a child that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Personally, one of the most emotional moments of the year was when my husband and I were honoured to receive the British Empire Medal for services to children and young people with cancer. While this recognition was awarded to us as co-founders, it truly belongs to the entire Supershoes community. Supershoes has always been powered by people — people who give their time, creativity, kindness, and energy so selflessly to help children facing cancer feel empowered and uplifted. We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to believe in our mission.

We were also incredibly thankful to receive generous support from Lorna’s Legacy during the year. Established in memory of Lorna Greay, a passionate supporter of Supershoes, their fundraising efforts and continued commitment to the charity have made a meaningful difference to our work. Their support through the Rutland Variety Performance fundraiser and pledge towards the Big Give Campaign has helped strengthen our ability to continue reaching children and families who need us. Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities that our new base in Great Torrington presents. Building strong local relationships, growing a sustainable volunteer and supporter network, and increasing community fundraising will be key priorities as we continue to raise awareness of childhood cancer across Devon and beyond. We are especially excited about plans for a local “Go Gold” awareness initiative during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, helping to bring the community together in support of children and young people facing cancer.

As always, none of what we achieve would be possible without our volunteers, supporters, trustees, artists, healthcare partners, and fundraisers. Thank you for standing beside us and helping us continue to make a difference, one child and one pair of Supershoes at a time.

Future Plans:

As we look ahead to the 2025/2026 financial year, Supershoes is excited to continue establishing strong roots within the Great Torrington community following the successful relocation of the charity. A key strategic priority for the year ahead will be growing a strong local supporter and volunteer network, recognising that for small charities, sustainable growth is built through meaningful community connections and local engagement. Great Torrington is known for its exceptional community spirit and active support of local causes, and we are keen to build lasting relationships with local residents, businesses, schools, and community groups who share our passion for supporting children and young people facing cancer.

By strengthening our presence locally, we aim not only to increase awareness of the Supershoes mission across Great Torrington and the wider Devon community, but also to create new fundraising opportunities that will help secure the long-term sustainability of the charity. We hope to encourage greater community involvement through local events, partnerships, volunteering opportunities, school engagement, and work experience placements, helping more people feel connected to the impact of our work

.

In addition, Supershoes plans to launch a local “Go Gold” initiative in Great Torrington during September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Through community-led fundraising activities and awareness campaigns, we hope to bring the town together in support of children and young people facing cancer, while continuing to build a compassionate and engaged local community around the charity.

Financial Review

The Charity has strived hard to increase it’s donation income and fundraising over the year, like many other charities. We have had a much lower level of donations of comparative unrestricted donations to the previous year, totalling £59,105 in donation income and gift aid receipts for the 12 months compared to the previous year. (2024: £92,054). In addition, the Charity received donations of mobile telephone costs and a TV totalling £554 (2024: £265).

Total expenditure of £58,135 before the donated costs of - £2,936 inc shoe return (2024: £265) is primarily represented by the purchase of Converse shoes and postage to send them out to the artists and then the child/young person, closely followed by property costs and salary costs. (Restricted to the CEO and Admin Assistant only. The artists do not receive any money for painting the shoes.)

Statement of Trustees' responsibilities

The Trustees are aware of their responsibilities to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its financial activities for that period. In preparing the accounts the Trustees have accepted the requirement to:

The Trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They accept responsibility for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

1. Accounting policies

Accounting convention

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in the notes to the accounts and comply with the Charity’s governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102) issued on 16 July 2014.

Going concern

These accounts have been prepared on the going concern basis as the Trustees consider that there are sufficient reserves available to meet the Charity’s liabilities as they fall due.

Incoming resources

All income is included in the SOFA in the year in which it becomes receivable.

Donated services and facilities are included in the SOFA when received at the value of the gift to the Charity provided the value of the gift can be measured reliably.

The financial year ending 2025 also included the remaining income of Charity Shop Sales from the previous year and Merchandise sales for a short time and has been demonstrated in the Accounts as Income from other trading activities. This was a short term project not expected to continue into other years.

Resources expended

All expenditure is included on an accruals basis and is recognised when there is a legal or constructive obligation to do so.

Governance costs include those incurred in the governance of the Charity and its assets and primarily associated with constitutional and statutory requirements.

All other expenditure is directly attributed to one of the functional categories of resources expended in the SOFA, on a basis consistent with the use of the resources.

Assets with a value of £200 or less are expended.

Fund accounting

The charitable company's unrestricted funds consist of funds which the charitable company may use for its purposes at its discretion.

Judgements in applying accounting policies and key sources of estimation uncertainty

In applying the Charity’s accounting policies, the Trustees may be required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions in determining the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities.

The Charity has an Admin Assistant to support the Charity on a normal basis, however because of the move of office location this role was not filled when a vacancy arose at the end of the previous financial year.

6. Trustees

The Board of Trustees received no emoluments for their services as Trustees and have delegated the day-to-day management of the Trust to the Trustee, Sarah White. Sarah White received £17,694 in remuneration for management of the Charity.

The Board of Trustees received reimbursement for travel expenses totalling £0.00 (2024: £0.00).

The Charity does not hold Trustee indemnity insurance at present.

10. Related party transactions

In the year ended 31 August 2025, a Trustee’s supplied; mobile phone services valued at £333, and a TV £221 (2024: £265).

In the year ended 31 August 2025, also incurred the return of Shoe Aid shoes as unsuitable for our purposes which reduced donated income valued at - £3490 (2024: £0).

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Supershoes

Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner

The Charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The Charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s report

The examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission as covered in Independent examination of Charity accounts: Directions and guidance for examiners (CC32)

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records.

It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the Accounts, seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the financial statements present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s report to the Trustees of Supershoes

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Supershoes for the year ended 31 August 2025.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the Charity Trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I report that I undertook an independent examination in June 2025 of Supershoes, registered Charity #1163157, and confirm the following;

In concluding my review I report that no material matters were brought to my attention or identified during my review to give any cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Charites Act 2011; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I therefore give confidence that the work undertaken by Supershoes does not represent any public concern and that their activities are in-line with the applicable requirements of the Charities Act 2011.In summary I have no concerns that there are nor have come I across other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
