The Trustees are pleased to present th8ir annual directors, report togeth8r with the financial
statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2024 whiGh are also prepared to
meet the requirem8nts for a directors. report and accounts for Companies Act purposes.
The financial statements follow th8 Charities Act 2011. the Companies Act 2006. the
charity's Memorandum and Articles of Association, and the Statement of Recommended
Practice- Accounting and Reporting by Charities appli¢able to charitl8s preparing their
a¢¢ounts by the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Ireland (FRS 102)
(effective 1 January 2015).
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing Document
The National Federation of Prostste Cancer Support Groups (operating under the name:
Tackle Prostate Cancer) is a charitable company limited by guarantee. incorporated on 6
July 2015, and registered as a charity on 14 August 2015. On 1 January 2016. Th& National
Federation of Prostate Cancer Support Groups acquired the whole of the assels and
liabilities of the unincorporated association Prostate Cancer Support Federation (PCSF).
PCSF had been fomied in September 2007 and was dissolved in February 2016. The
company was set up under a Memorandum and Articles of Association (Articles) which set
up the objects, powers, and governance of the company. These Articles wer8 r8vised and
adopted by special resolution on 6 February 2023.
Re¢ruitmont, induction, and training of Directors (Trustees)
The Board consists of not less than three nor more than ten Directors made up as follows..
Up to seven Directors being members of member organisations and el8Ct8d by the
members at the Annual General Meeting
Up to three Directors appointed by the Board who have a specifiG expertise e.g..
finance, HR or marketing.. and
The Directors shall appoint one of their number as Chair and may detemiine the
length of lerm to serve in that office. The Directors may also appoint one of thoir
number as vic8-chair.
Directors are also Trustees of th8 charity and govem the activities of the Charity as a Board.
Upon appointment lo the Board. to help ease their understanding of the current issues
concerning the organisation, each new Director is provided with a copy of the Charity
Commission publication entilled 'The Essential Trustee-. What you need to know" which
gives guidance on what is expected of them. New Directors are also provided with briefings
from the Chair on th8 Structure. strategy and operations of the charity. The Board meets four
times a year army devolves responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day running of the
organisation to the executive team curr8ntly led by Sarah Gray and overseen by the Chair
and Vice-chair. Sub-committees with Trustee representation is in pla￿ to govern specific
adivities such as fundraising, marketing. appointments and remuneration.
The purpose of the charlty
The charity is a federalion, whose member organisations (-members") are patient-led
prostate can￿r support groups. The purpose of the charity is to c¢>ordinate, fo¢us and

Objectivos arKI activities for the public benefit
As sel out in its governing document. the objects of the charity are to relieve the sickness.
physical and mental distress of persons affected by prostste cancer in th8 UK. but not
exclusively by..
assisting and strengthening the activtties in support of people affected by prostate
cancer. including encouraging and supporting the formation of new local prostate
support organisations throughout the UK
encouraging the improvement of health services available to prostate ¢anor
patients; and
acting as a focus for and expr8ssing the views of patient-led support groups
conceming
a. raising awareness of prostste can￿r
improving the health services available to prostate cancer patients., and
c. priorities for research into the diagnosis and treatment of prostste ￿nCer.
Our vision is to be the 'go to, d)arity for peer support and our mission is To enable th6
growth of peer support groups across the country. ensuring the n88ds of people living with
and impacted by proslate cancer are met, and their voices are heard.
Our strategic imperatives as sel out in our 3-year plan (2023-20261 are to:
Grow and strengthen our relationships and repulation amongst peer support

Recognise and amplify the importan¢e of tha usar voico across tho health and
social care system
Demonstrate our impact and value to the prostate cancer communty and
general public
Secure financial sustainability through an effective fundraising strategy
Ensure we have robust organisational governance to deliver our strategy and
mandatory requirements
Achievements In 2024
We continued our mission to become the 'go to, charity for peer support by investing in th8
people who lead our groups. This year, we launched Best Practice Guidelines, built a more
user-friendly Members, Portal. and mainlained a sleady rhythm of monthly briefings. Zoom
meetings. and in-person visits to support our leaders.
We delivered 30 face-to-face group visits and facilitated regular group leader forums
attended by an averag8 of 35 leaders per session. More than 60% of 8UPPOrt groups now
use the Members, Portal.
We are working to encourage and support the take up of our Best Practice Guidance. which
was launched in April 2024- a sel of principles to ensure good g0veMan￿ of our member
support groups.
Recognising the powerful influence of real-life stories, we launched the 'Many Fa￿S of
Prostate Cancer, campaign, a follow-up to the successful 'L8t's Talk About IY series. These
short films aim to share the real-life experie￿eS of people from diverse backgrounds and
communf(ies.

We also scaled up our digital engagement. Website visitors grew by 44%, and social media
engagement rose by over 90¥0.
Working in partnership with other charities in the cancer community. Tackle has remained at
the forefront of national campaigns. As partners in campaigns suth as Boys Need Bins, our
supporters advocated for changes in their localities, including the installalion of sanitary bins
in male cubicles across Lancashire and Herefordshiré.
We are working in partn8rship with Prostate Cancer Research and others to advocate for
target8d scre8ning for high-risk eK)mmunities through the Proactive for your Prostate
campaign. Members of our board and staff have been active in lobbying MPS at iwo Palace
of Westminster events.
We continue lo lobby for better diagnosis, treatment. and services as part of The One
Cancer Voice campaign.
2024 saw the launch of 7 new groups. bringing our n81work to 140. We introduced groups in
underserved areas and activily-based models. The Peer Coaohing Programme, now funded
by Movember, began its rollout with the first'Train the Trainerf s6ssions.
We also ernbedded equity, diversity. and inclusion principles through new partnerships and
ongoing training
Looking Ahead
We have built strong foundations with our National Lottery and Movember funded projects.
and our upcoming work will focus on:
Expanding and piloting the Peer Coaching model
Growing our network of groups in Yorkshire and the Northeast and across the
Midlands, wlth a particular focus on ensuring we meet the needs of underserved
communities.
Growing our community fundraising
Ensuring our nelwork of Group Leaders and organisers have the tools, krtowledge,
and skills to run welcoming. effective, safe and well-governed support groups and

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Flnancial Perforniance
Our income this year at £179,228 was an incr88se of 459h on 2023. Our expenditure of
£201,790 was up by 31°k overall, with charitable expenditure increased by 24°/o. W8 finished
the year with a deficit of £22,561.
As recognised by the Board in their risk assessment, fundraising contlnu8S to b8 a serious
challenge for the Charity. We are extremely grateful to all our members and supporters for
their generosity in donating funds to COV8r th8 work that we do to support prostate cancer
patienls and their families. In line with ABPI guidelines, we continued to benefit from financial
support from phamiaceutical companies, some of whom we work closely with as patient
advocates.
Reserves Policy
In line with the guidance issued by the Charity Commission. the Trustees have considered
the future n8eds of the charity and believe that unrestricted general funds, that is funds
which are neither restricted nor des￿nated, should be at least three months, forward
operating expenditure. Such funds are needed to safeguard the charity's aGtivity against an
unexpected shortfall in fundraising income, emergency, or unforeseen expenditure and to
ensure its financial slability over the longer term.
Statement of Trustees. Responsibilities
The Trustees (who are also the Directors of th8 charitable company for th8 purposes of
company law) handle preparing the Annual Report and financial statements following
applicable laws and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
Company law requires the charity trustees to pr8pare financial statements for each year
which give a true and fair view of the situation of the charitable company and of the incoming
re$our¢es and appli¢ation of resources induding the income and expenditure of the
charitable company for Ihat pericd. In preparing those financial statefflents, the ttustees
must..
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistentty.
observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP 2015 (FRS 102).
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed; and
prepare the financial statements on the going concem basis unless it Inappropriate to
presume that the chariiable wmpany will continue in business.
The trustees handle keeping prop6r accounting records which show with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and to enable them to
ensure that the financial statements follow the Companies Act 2006. Th8y are also
responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevenkn'on and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees handle the maintenance and integrity of the corporate and financial information
included on the tharitable company website. Legislation in the United Kingdom governing
the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other
jurisdictions.

I report lo the charity trustees on rny examination of the accounts of the company for Ihe year
ended 31 December 2024. which are set out on pages 10 to 17.
Rosponsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trusteés of the company land also its directors for the purposes of company
law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in a¢cordanc8 with the
requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act.).
Having satisfied myself thal the accounts of the company are not required to be audited
under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination. I report in
respect of my examination of your company's accounts as carried out under section 145 of
the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Aot,). In carrying out my examination I have folbwed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5){b) of the 2011 Act.
Basis of independent examinefs report
My examination was carried out Sn accordance wlth the general Directions given by thè Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees

would be required in an audit and consequentjy no opinion is given as lo whelher the accounts

The charitable company is entitled to exemption under Section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 for the year ended 31 December 2024. 

The directors have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

- (a) ensuring that the charitable company keeps accounting records that comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and

Rentals payable under operating leases are charged against income on a straight line basis over
the18as8 term.
g. Financial Instruments
Basic financial assets, which include cash and bank balan￿s, are initially measured at transaction
price including transaction costs and are subsequenlly carried at amortised cost using the effective
interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction. where the transaction
is measured at th8 pr8sent value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest.
Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.
h. Funds
General lunds - thesè are unrestricted funds which can be used for the charitable objects at th6
discretion of the Trustees and which have not been designated for other purposes.
Rèstrict8d funds - these are funés that Can only be used for particular restricted purpos8S Wlthin
the objects of the charity- Restrictions arise when speGified by the donor or when funds are raised
for particular restricted purpos8s. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the not6s to
the financial statements.
Deslgnated funds - these are Un￿striCted funds which have been set aside by th8 Trustees for
specific purposes. The aim and use of 6ach designated fund is set out in the notes to the financial
statements.
Interest recelvable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable- this is nomally upon receipt or upon
notification of the interest paid by the Bank or Building Society.
P8nsion costs
The Charity operates a defined contribution stakeholder pension scheme. The amount charged to
the statemenl of financial activities in respect of pension costs is the Charity's contributions payable
in the year. The assèts of th8 scheme are held separately from the Charity. There was no
outstanding liability owed to the scheme at the end of the currenl or prior years.
k. Employee Benefits
The cost of short-term employee benefits are recognised as a liability and an expense. The cost of
any material unused holiday entitlement is recognised in the period in which the employee's
seNices are received.
