Orwell Panthers Athletics Club CHAIR AGM REPORT 2023
Welcome everyone to this year’s Orwell Panthers Athletics Club Annual General Meeting.
I cannot believe it was twenty years ago that Orwell Panthers Athletics Club was formed and what a long way our club has come from just one athlete. Our membership has grown and continues to grow and the club is going from strength to strength.
Although there have only been two competitions this year, Bury St. Edmunds, which we hosted and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make the day fantastic and all the other teams who attended all want to come again next year, plus Norwich which was hosted by Norfolk Special Olympics. At both these events everyone who attended came away with medals and personal bests. With the SOGB National games planned to be held in 2026, hopefully there will be more competitions for our athletes to attend.
A lot has been going on behind the scenes and we hope next year to launch our new logo, chosen by the members, and a new range of kit with the clubs new logo on. I would like to thank Jenny for sorting out the logo and Ann sourcing our new kit.
This time last year we were all very unsure where we would be training next year, thankfully Northgate has remained open so training on the track could continue. Margaret has managed to obtain the large hall for our winter training; this will enable coaches to plan an indoor programme with more variation.
I would like to give a big thankyou to all our coaches, athletes, parents, carers and volunteers who have helped and the club would not be where it is today without all of you.
Finally, Michael and Paul will be launching our new web site at the end of the meeting, please everyone do have a look. Thank you to you both for producing the new web site after our original web site was accidently erased by our web host, so you had to start from scratch.
