PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF ST PAUL'S HOOK TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st DECEMBER 2023 AIMS AND PURPOSES St Paul's Parochial Church Council (PCC) has the responsibilty of cooperating viith the incumbent, the Reverend Luke Wickings. in promoting the whole mission of the Church, pastoral. evangelistic, social and ecumenical. The PCC is also specrfically responsible for the Maintenan￿ of the Church. the Churchyard and the Church Centre of St Paul's. Hook. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES The PCC consists ofthe incumbent, and of members elected by the Church membership (those on the electoral roll) at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM). The PCC'S role is to make decisions on behalf of the congregation about the running of the Church, that enable us to fulfil God's purpo￿ in the Church and in the Communty. The PCC are also stewards of the reSoU￿S that the Church has at its disposal.. our finan￿S, the buildings and churchyard. the equipment within the buildings, and the staff. It is the responsibility of the PCC to ensure that these reSoUr￿S a￿ maintained, replenished and used appropriateEy. The PCC also keep an overview of the Church Se￿1￿. whilst recognising that the ultimate responsibilty for the services rests wth the incumbent. Nevertheless, the PCC are a channel for communication between the congregation and the incumbent and are also encouraged to express their own views about worship. When planning our activrties and related expendiiure the PCC will always consider the Charity Commission's guidan￿ on public benefrt and. in particular. the supplementary guidan￿ on charities for the advancement of religion. WORSHIP PRAYER AND RITES OF PASSAGE The PCC is k￿n to offer a range of SeNi￿S and other events during the week and over the course of the year that our communrty will find both beneficial and spiritually uplifting. As well as our regular services. we enable our communrty to ￿lebrate and thank God at the milestones of the joumey through lrfe. Through baptism we thank God for the gift of life. in marriage, public vows are exchanged before Gc￿. through funeral services friends and family express their grief. receive comfort, give thanks to God for the person who has passed. and commend that person into God's keeping. DEANERY SYNOD Currently. three members of the PCC are the Church's Deanery Synod representatives. RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRL'STEES AND EXAMtNERS Th¢ church's trustees are re5ponsibl¢ for the preparation of the accounts. The church's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the act 2011) and that an independent ¢￿9mlnatIon is needed. Et is our responsibility to= examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 2011 Act). to follow the procedures laid down in the genernl directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 145{5Kb) of the 201 l Act)- and to state whether particular matters have come to our attenlion. BASIS OF tNDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT Our examinalion was carried out in accordance with the general directors given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a re¥'ieii'" of the accounting r¢cords kept b}, the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of an). unusual items or disclosures in the ac¢ounts and seekino explanations from you as trust¢es conceriiing any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequentlv no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
