TRUSTEE’S REPORT
Organisation
Keighley Church of the Nazarene is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and associated with the British Isles South District, (Company No. 7028764, Charity No. 1133336) a Charitable Company Limited by guarantee. It was registered as a charity on 17th December 2010. Keighley Church of the Nazarene was registered as a charity on 7th August 2015, Charity No.1163066.
Trustees
Board members are elected at the Annual General Meeting of Keighley Church of the Nazarene, by the members of the church and serve on the church board for one year. Board members must be members of the church. The board members are also charity Trustees for the purpose of charity law.
Keighley Church of the Nazarene received a special dispensation from the District Superintendent to chair their own Annual General Meeting on 16[th] February 2025 Trustees voted into office are :- Stewards – Miss Susan E McKenzie and Mrs Janette Jones.
Church Trustees – Mr David Jones, Mrs Patricia Tillotson and Mrs Sandra A Thomas Missionary President – Miss Susan E McKenzie Children's Ministries Co-ordinator – Mrs Janette Jones
Treasurer and secretary are elected by the Trustees at a board meeting. During the year five Trustees meetings took place and other decisions were made by the chair telephoning Trustees. From 1[st] January 2018 Mr David Jones was appointed as chairperson.
Charitable Objectives
The CIO has the following objectives:-
a) The advancement of the Christian faith as part of the International Church of the Nazarene and the British Isles South District, principally but not exclusively in northern England.
Operating and Public Benefit
The church owns the premises that are used to meet the purpose of the organisation, namely the church building and a church manse.
No personal benefit is gained from the use of these premises.
All interests in Real Property are held in the sole name of the Church of the Nazarene British Isles South District on the Model Trusts.
All monies raised are from free-will offerings, tithes and gifts I donations / legacies.

The public benefits are: -

The Church is part of the Church of the Nazarene British Isles South District, and operates in Keighley to promote and explore the Christian faith.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Church services and activities.

The Church's congregation is comprised of people from varying backgrounds.

The church is licensed to hold weddings and is available for christenings and funerals .

Details of the Church's activities and services can be found by visiting the Church building and the Church website, which provides a list of upcoming events. Information can also be found in the weekly newsletter, leaflet distribution and local advertising.

The activities of the Church are free of charge.

Children can attend the weekly Friday Club for 5 to 11 years of age.

The over 55's group called Silver Liners usually meets weekly on a Thursday afternoon with fellowship. Silver Liners has not been meeting in church since the Covid pandemic, but has weekly trips out to Garden Centres, Museums, or Parks, always with a cafe.

Rooms and the backyard space are available to hire by the general public.

Currently 1 group hires our premises each week, and we support Living Lights Food Bank by giving them free storage.

Restrictions -
No alcohol or smoking allowed.
No activities that would cause offence to a family audience.
The advancement of any religion other than Christianity is not allowed
on the premises.

The Church Manse is rented out to tenants.

Hospitality is given to those in need (e.g. food shopping or bus I rail ticket purchased etc).

We raise funds for charities including Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (worldwide disaster relief fund)
Activities
Our activities have included: -
-
weekly Sunday morning services, (including communion 9 times during the year), We have video linked with other Nazarene churches or had a speaker 1 or 2 times a month.

children's weekly Friday Club (5 to 11 years) is in the church building during term times, with bible stories, craft, games and a snack .
-
a group for over 55s weekly (Silver Liners) have had weekly trips out to Garden Centres or Shopping areas.

participation in Nazarene Missions International (NMI),
-
special events such as Carol Services at Christmas, Family services at Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Harvest and Church Anniversary.
-
Delegates are appointed at the AGM for the yearly British Isles South District Assembly, enabling the Keighley church to participate in District decisions. In 2025 the District Assembly took place in Watford.

We have supported our local food banks with food and monetary donations (Salvation Army and Living Lights) and we gave a monetary donation to Caring for Life Charity in Leeds.

We have helped at the Salvation Army and have helped distribute the presents and food parcels to the needy families at Christmas.

We have had weekly zoom meetings to do a bible study and prayer time. We have continued to print the study notes for those without internet or unable to attend in person.

Since June 2023 we have distributed the Good News newspaper to 125 (increased to 150) homes around the church building, including prayer cards and tracts each month and have reached out to new area since September 2024.

The congregation is involved with Keighley Churches Together and participates in its various activities throughout the year.

Volunteers helped at Keighley Salvation Army with DIY jobs weekly and taking gifts to children and food parcels for families at Christmas.

Volunteers helped with Christian Links in Keighley Schools (CLiKS) (affiliated with Scripture Union) at REWIND to Christmas 2024 (year 4 with 13 schools at the local Churches and going into schools). REWIND to Easter 2025 (running the programme with year 5 in 15 schools) and Fast Forward 2025 (helping year 6 children in 11 schools with the transition to high school), a total of 1,606 children.

Volunteers helped at the X:site Easter Holiday Club of year 3 to year 6 children which took place in April 2025 at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Keighley.

Volunteers helped at the X:site Summer Holiday Club year 3 to year 11 children held at a Scout Camp outside Harrogate and the monthly events held at All Nations Church for year 3 to year 6 children.
The Future
Keighley Church of the Nazarene will continue to reach out into the community, giving support where it is needed and helping people explore their faith. As a church we are open to God's leading for another minister.
Reserves policy
As a rule the Trustees consider that the charity should hold reserves equivalent to 3 months expenditure in reserve.
Restriction of legacy from Stella Smith (currently £2601.75) is to be used on the maintenance of the properties only.
The accounts have been drawn up in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by CIO's preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable under 55132-166, Charities Act 2011 (CA 2011) for an E&W CIO.
