The year was marked by conllnued growth in the mediatlon sector, alongside increasing recognition of mediètlon's role in supportlng access to ]LStiCe, workplace wellbeing, and communlty cohesion. A significant milestone during the year was the launch of the CMC'S new three-year strategy in June 2025, settiTrg out the orgariisation's priorities and ambltlons for the perlod 2025-2028. The strategy reinforced the CMC'S commitment to promoting medlation, 5UPPOrting professional standèrds, Increaslng publlc awareness, and improvlng access to dlspute resolulion services acros5 Engl2nd and Wale5. The CMC'5 specialist working groups contlnued to play a central role in advancing mediatiorl practice and education. Active working groups durlng the year incliide.d comme.rcial M*dlatlon, Workplace Mediation, Peer Nedlatlon and Tralnlng In Schools, comMnity Mediatlon, and the Academic Forum. Tliese groups provided valLJable OPPDrtunitles for collaboration, professional development, research, and pollcy discussion acr055 the sector. The Peer Mediatlon Working Group published a research report 'Resolving Conflict In Schools Peer medlallon as a foundatlon for happier, healthier lives., examining the impact of peer medlatlon tralnlng in schools. This work contrlbuted to the evldence base supporting early conflict resolution skills for chlldren and young people and further demonstrated the value of peer mediatlon programmes wlthln educatsonal settlngs. In support of access to justice and communily confllct resolution, the CMC a150 researched and developed digital ap of communiLy medlatSon servlces across the UnSted Kingdom. The tnitiative was designed to eRable individuals, families, and communltles experlenclng conflict to identify and access local medlatlon support servlces more easily. In the aulumn, CMC Chalr Kelly StrfcklSn-Coutinho and Deputy CEO Victoria Harrfs spoke at the Calm Connect Conference, contributing to a bl-annual conference delivered by London's largest communlty mediation service. CMC representatives also contributed to London EnternatFonal Disputes Week {LIDWI Sn June 2025. Throughout 2025, the CMC continued to engage with goverftment, the ludlclary, polScymakers, and external stakeholders to help shape medlallon poll£y and practlce. The organisation liaised with senlor members of the judiciary and politlclans on matters relating lo mediation and d15PUte resolution policy d met with organisations including the Acce5S to Justtce Foundatlon to explore areas of shared interest and collaboratlon. The Workplace Mediatlon Worklng Group remalned active in promoting early dispute resolution within organisations. In June 2025, the group convened a roundtable discussioll with ACAS and senlor stakeholders lo conslder how workplace mediation could %iJpptsrt the early resolutlon of dlsputes and eontrlbute to reduclng employment tribunal backlogs. The CMC also colldbordted with Doughty Street Cliamber5 to deliver an event for local authoritles highlighting the benefits and practlcal value of workplace rnediatlon. The CMC further strengthened its educational and academlc engagement durlng th2 year through the launch of t new academlc lecture series. In collaboration with Llnlverslty College Londor) IUCL), Ihe organlsatlon hosted the Inaugural annual lecture, dellvered by Michel Kallipetis KC, addressing the toplc of mediation privilege. Deputy CEO Vlctorla Harris also represented the CMC at a conference hosted by the Universlty of Stralhclyde, contributing to academlc and professional dlscusslon around mediation practice and pollcy. Supporting mediator development and Contlnulng Professlonal Development ICPD) retslalned a key organlsatlonal priority throughout 2025. Durlng the year, the CNC launched a new webinar series entitled Medlatlon in Sessian, designed to support medtators through accessSble CPD opportunllles and dixusslon of cuent Issues affectlng practlce. The CMC also introduced Mediator Launchpad, a free coachlng and support Inftiative for newly quallfle CMC member mediators. The programme was developed to èsslst medlators In the early stages of practice and to encourage contit)ued professional growth and confldence within the profession. International engagement èlso conllnued durlng the year. On 11 June 2025, Deputy CEO Victorla Harrls spoke at an event hosted by Mediator5 Beyond Borders International in The Hague. The organisatlon also contlnued its work on mediatlon standards through particlpation in the Medlatlon Standards Board. On 12 &ind 13 November 2025, the CMC hosted its largest ever Annual Conference, wlth more than 300 delegates attendlng onllne over two afternoons. The conference delivered up to Ll hours of CPD and feolured speakers from aeross the medlatlon sector, reflecting the growlng scale and diversily of the organlsatlon's professlonal and educational activitles. Expenditure In 2025 increased by 7% to £245,818 whilst indivldual figures within the overall total varied from budget the final outturll was wlthin 0.5D/o of the flgure approved by the Board for the year. The ealance Sheet of 2025 remains comparable to 2024. Debtors have crept up but are regularly and successfully chased. At the year end the CMCS Cash balances had Sncreased by £t5,000 wlth £148,518 held in it5 bènk accounts. As at year end £75,000 was held in a ontryear flxed term accoynt and a furth&r £30,OCJO held in an sccount paylng hlgher Interest tlian available from HSBC. In the early part of 2026, the c45h posltlon has remained strong with an addltlonal £20,000 betng held in higher int@.re5t accounts. Consequently, tho CMC continues to comply with its Reservlng Pollcy moiiitaining cash balances as follows.. GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing document Th& r.harlty Is controlled by it5 governlng document, a deed of trust, and collstitutes a Ilmlted company, Ilmlted by guarantee, as deflt)ed by the Compènles Act 2006. Recrultment and appointment of new trustees None of the members of the Board have any beneficial Interest In the company. All of the menTrbers of the Board are members of the company and guarantee to contribute, Sn the event of a winding up. Artlcles 25 27 of the Articles of AssocSallon fix the maximum number of members af Ihe Board at IB and provide for the appointment, retirement, dlsouallficatlon and removal of those members.
