church. and the Iruslees are nominoted ond appointed by this commitle
In 2023. the WCCC donated to 'lnn Churches. a Bradford based charily. Ihe Chrfslian Aid
Appeal f(x s￿10 & Turkey and the DEC Appeal for m￿0Cco.
The Wyke Foodbank wos opened in 2015. by the WCCC. in cooperation with the Trussell
Trust, ond supp(xt5 Ihose in cri515 in Bradford Sovth. The Foodbonk operales from The Hub.
68 Blackslone Avenue, Wyke, Bradford. BD12 8SJ.
Following the pondemic, food has been delivered lo clients. This process has been
continued. through whal is colled an e4eferral system. This means thof clients contoct
their Referral Agenl IDoc1￿. Care Workers. Charities. and Housing Associolions elc.I who
ore able to process their details through the Trv55ell Trv5t registration system. The details
are Ihen sent lo Ihe nearest Foodbank to their accommodation. The Wyke Foodbank
curTenlly supports those in crisis in Ihe BD6. BDI 2 & BD19 p051al areos of Soulh Bradford
ond Cleckhealon.
27.042kg of food and loiletries was dislribvted in 2023. an increase of 5% over 2022.
The Foodbank is well supported by significant donalions of food from locol churches.
schools. businesses and individuals, as well as a number of generou5 financial donations.
The Foodbank is now linked with People's Fundraisers la branch of Golden Giving). a not
for profil setvice. so thol donations lo the Foodbank can be made through their web site.
The Wyke Foodbonk Sleering Group is accounloble to the Trvstees of Ihe Wyke Christian
Council of Churches, and o Trustee is present al each bi-monthly meeling of the
Foodbank leom.
A major event in 2023 was the opening, in Febnjory. of a coffee shop nomed 'The
Meeting Place, in Towngole. Wyke. This is open on week-days lo offer help and hospilality
to those in need. and to a￿ange for organisalions such as CAP IChristion5 agoinsl
Povertyl to offer advice to Ihose in crisis.
