CAMPASSION CARE TRUST TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2025
The Trustees present their Report for the year ending 31 March 2025, which incorporates the Legal and Administrative Details on Page 2.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Campassion Care Trust was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 30 July 2015. Under the terms and conditions of this CIO, the power to appoint Trustees is vested in the Trustees for the time being.
The Charity has a Board of Trustees who meet quarterly and are responsible for its strategic direction, policy and operations.
OBJECTS, ORGANISATION AND ACTIVITIES
The Mission Statement of the Charity is stated on Page 2.
During the past year the Campassion Care Trust has continued to discuss with local churches about the need to provide quality care for elderly people in the Cambridge area.
Carmel McDonnell, our volunteer Care Home Liaison Officer, has continued working with existing Cambridge Care Homes to identify those that currently have Christian services provided by local churches and to ascertain whether care homes would like more input from Cambridge churches, in the form of services, 1-1 visits and one-off socials. As a result of their responses Carmel has linked care homes with churches and also arranged services taken by her and other CCT group members including Anne Jarvis and Mary Burdett.
In July 2024 Rachel Simonson started working for Campassion Care Trust to raise the charity's profile in the local community. Rachel has successfully networked with many other organisations, agencies and individuals. In March 2025 she arranged a public meeting at Queen Edith Chapel on the subject of care for the elderly. It is planned to repeat these meetings with guest speakers on a regular basis.
Campassion Care Trust continues to investigate and explore possible opportunities to establish a Christian Care Home in the Cambridgeshire area. We have held discussions with Pilgrims' Friend Society, Cambridge Christian Action Network and various groups and individuals who share this vision.
At present we have a regular core group of 10 people including the trustees that meet on a monthly basis to discuss and plan activities. It is envisaged that this group will expand in the future.
There are approx 190 people who receive regular updates and news of our activities.
