CAMPASSION CARE TRUST TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2024
The Trustees present their Report for the year ending 31 March 2024, which incorporates the Legal and Administrative Details on Page 2.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Campassion Care Trust was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 30 July 2015. Under the terms and conditions of this CIO, the power to appoint Trustees is vested in the Trustees for the time being.
The Charity has a Board of Trustees who meet quarterly and are responsible for its strategic direction, policy and operations.
OBJECTS, ORGANISATION AND ACTIVITIES
The Mission Statement of the Charity is stated on Page 2.
During the past year the Campassion Care Trust has continued to discuss with local churches about the need to provide quality care for elderly people in the local community.
Carmel McDonnell, our volunteer Care Home Liaison Officer, has continued working with existing Cambridge Care Homes to identify those that currently have Christian services provided by local churches and to ascertain whether care homes would like more input from Cambridge churches, in the form of services, 1-1 visits and one-off socials. As a result of their responses Carmel has linked care homes with churches and also arranged services that she has taken with support from CCT group members and volunteers.
In June 2023 we hosted a one day conference in Cambridge with Embracing Age. Tina English, their CEO, gave 3 inspirational talks on care for the elderly including those living with dementia. It was attended by 50 people.
Campassion Care Trust continues to investigate and explore possible opportunities to establish a Christian Care Home in the Cambridgeshire area. We have held discussions with Pilgrims' Friend Society, Embracing Age, Cambridge Christian Action Network and various individuals who share this vision.
At present we have a regular core group of 10 people including the trustees that meet on a monthly basis to discuss and plan future activities. It has been agreed that Rachel Simonson will start working for Campassion in 2024 to further the activities of the charity. This is a very encouraging development and means that Rachel will step down as a trustee.
There are approx 160 people who receive regular updates and news of our activities.
