The Trustees present their annual report and finanrial statements for the yeaT ended 31 May 2025.
The financial statemen15 have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the
rinancial statem8n15 and comply with The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO'S tgovarning documentl. the
Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement ol Recommended Practice applioable
lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial R8POrting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS 1Q21 leffeclive 1 January 20191"
ObjeGtives and activities
The Chartwell Children's Cancer Ttusl CIO objecls are speafically re81ricted to the following..
To raise funds for the relief of sickness of children with Caneer and Leukaemia receiving
treatment in hospitals or organisations as the Tiuslees may delertlline, by the provision of
rinancial support lo such persons and their families suffering hardship during their time of
illness, and by any other charitable means which the Trustees defermine.
To relieve sickness and to preserve the health of the patients in hospitals or organisalions as
the Trustees may detemine, by providing or assisting in the provision of equipment, facilities
and semces ancillary lo those providèd by the slalulory aulhorilies, and by any other
charitable means which the Trustees delerrnine.
To draw, make. accept, endorsa, discount, ex&¢ule and issue bills, cheques, and other
instrurnents, and to operate bank a￿OuntS in lh8 natne of the Chaiily.
To raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever
by the way of subscription. donation, or otherwlse provided that this shall be without prejudieè
to the ability of the company lo disclaim any gift.
To acquire, alter, improve and {subject to sueh ￿nSentS as may be reqLJired by lawl to
Charge or othewiise dispose of property.
Subject to Article 5 below to employ such staff, who shall not be directors of the Charity
Iheieinafter referred lo as the Iruslees.). as are ne￿ssary for the proper pursuit of Ihè
objects and lo make all reasonable and nec8ssary prowsion foi the payment of pensions and
superannuation lo staff and their dependants.
To establish or support any charitabl8 Iiusls, assoaalions or institutions formed by all or any
of the Objects.
To co-operate with other charities, voluntary bodies and statutory authorities operating in
furtherance of the Objea15 or similar charitable purposes and to èxthange information and
advice with them.
To pay out of the funds of the Charily the costs. charges and expenses of and inadental lo
the formation and registration ol the Charity.
To do all such other lawful things as are necessary for the achievement of the Objects.
The Trustees h8ve paid due regard lo guidance issued by thè Charity Commission in deciding what activities The

The Chaiity wntiibuted £750,QOO lo cover the cost of the paediatric oncology Lsnil within the new Rainbow Village ill
Croydon Univeisily Hospiial .This contribution is the largest single contribulion ever rectsived by Croydon University
Hospital.
11 is th8 policy ol The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO that unrestricted fvnds which have not been designated
for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent lo between three and six month's expenditure. The
Trustees considers that reserves al this level will ensure that, the event of a significant drop in funding, they will
be able to continue The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO current activities while consideration is given to w3yS
in which additional funds may be raised. This level of raserves has been maintained throughout the year.
The Trustees has assessed the major risks to which The Chartwèll Children's CancerTrust CIO is exposed, and are
satisfied that system5 are in place lo miligale exposure lo Ihe major risks.
Structurè, governance and management
Th8 Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO is a charhable incorporated organisation.
The1I8bility of member5 is limiled.
Every metnber of the charity promises, il the chaTlty is dissolved while he or she or it a member or within

1.1 Accounting convention

20191" The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO is a Public Benefil Enlily as delined by FRS 102.
The Ch8rtwell Childion's Can￿[ Trust CIO has taken advantage of the provl$ions in th8 SORP for charities
applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin 1 not lo prepare a Slalement of Cash Flows.
The finan¢ia1 statements have departed from the Charilies IAccounls and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo
the extent required lo provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of
Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 lather than the veision of the Stalemenl of
Recommended Praclice which is referred to in the Regulations bul which has since been wilhclr8wn.
The financial statements are preparod in sterling, which is Ihe functional currency of The Chartwell Children's
Cancer Trust CIO. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rovnded lo lh6 neare51 £.
1.2 Charitable funds
Restricted funds ale subje¢l to specific conditions by donors 01 grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds aTe set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Endowment funds are subject to specifsc ¢ondition5 by donors that the capital must be maintained by The
Chartwell Children's Gancer Trust CIO.
1.3 Income
Incorne is recognis8d when The Chartwell Children's Cancel Trusl CIQ is legally entitled to it after any
perforrnance conditions have been met. the amounls can be measured reliably. and il is probable that income
will be Teceived.
Cash donations are rewgnised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once The Chartwell Chlldren's
Cancer Trust CIO has been notilied of Ihe donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the
amount. Incorr8 lax recoverable in relation lo donations re¢éived ullder Gifl Aid or deed5 of covenant is
recognised al the lime of the donation.
Legacies are recognised on re￿Ipt or othe￿iSe if The Ch3rtwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO has been
notified ol an impending dislribulion, the amount is known. and receipt is expected. If the amounl is not
known, the legacy is treated as a eonlingent assel.
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the considèration received or re¢eivable and represents amounts
receivable for goods and servic8s provided in the normal course of business, net of discounts. VAT and other
sales related taxes.

1.4 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or conslruclive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a
Ihlrd party, il is probable that a Iransler of economic benefits will be required In settlement, and the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by aclivily. The costs ol each activity are made up of the tolal of direct costs and
shared costs, illcluding support cosls involved in underlaking each aetivily. Direct costs atlribulable lo a single
aetiirily are allocated directly lo that acllvily. Shared costs which eonlribule lo more than one aolivily and
support costs whieh are not attributable lo a single activity are apportioned between those aclivities on a basis
consistent with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portioll of the asset's us&.
1.5 Tang5ble fixed a85ets
Tangible fixed assets are initi8lly measuTed at cost and subsequenlty measured at eosl or valuation, nel of
depreciation and Ally impairment losses.
Depreciabon is reeognised so as to write off thé cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their
useful lives on thè following bases..

The gain or loss arising on th& disposal of an assttt is determined as the difference between the s81e proceeds
and the carrying value of thè assel. and is recognised in the statement of linanaal aclivilies.
1.6 Impairment of fixèd assets
At each reporting end date. The Chartwell Children's Trust CIO reviews the carryillg amounts of ils tangible
assets to determine whelher there is any indication that th05e assets have suffered an irnpairmenl loss. If any
such indication exists, the recoverable amount ol the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the
impairment loss lil any).
Intangible assets with indefinite useful lives and intangible assets not yo1 available for use are tested for
irllpairmeNI annually. and whenever there is an indication that the asset may be impaired.
1.7 Cash and Cash Èquivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held al call with banks, other short-term liquid
investments with original malurilies of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
within borrowings in current liabilities.
1.8 Financial instruments
The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 '8asic Financial
Instruments, and Section 12'01hei Financi81 Instruments Issue5, of FRS 102 to all of ils financial inslrurnents.
Financial instruments are recognised in The Chartwell Children's CanceT Trust CIO'S balance sheet when The
Chartwell Children's Cancer Trusl CIO bècomes party to the contraetLJal provisions of the instrument.
Flnancial as5els and liabililles are offset, with the nel amounts presented in the financial slaternents, when
there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net
basis or lo realise the assel and sellle the liability simL511aneously.
