As well as fulfilling it'5 aims and objectives, the Charily made a significant financial contribution to The Lily Pad
Appeal In Croydon University Hospilal. The Lily Pad Appe81 contribLJled £750,000 towards the cost ol the new
paedialric ollcology unit within the new Rainbow Children's Village,
11 Is tha policy of The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO that unrestricted funds which have nol been designated
for a specific use should be maintained al a level equivalent lo between three and six month's 8xpendilure. The
Trustees considers that reserves al this level w511 ensure that, in the event ol a significant drop in fundlng, they will
be able lo continue The Chariwell Children's Cancel TrLJSt CIO current activities while consideration is given lo ways
in which additional funds may be raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year.
The Trustees has assessed Ihe major risks to which The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO is exposed, and are
satisfied Ihal systems are in place lo miligale exposure to the major risks.

The liability of members is limited.

Accounting policies
1.1 Accountlng convention
The financial slalemenls have been prepared in ac¢oTdance with The Chatlwell Children's Cancer Trust
CIO'S Igovèrning do¢umentl, the Cornpanies Act 2006 and Accounting and RepoTiing by Charities..
Stalemenl of Recommellded Praclice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordan￿ with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic Of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January
20191" The Ch8riwell Children's C8n¢eT Trust CIO is 8 Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The Chartw811 Children's Cancer Trust CIO has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities
applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin 1 not lo piepam 8 Statement of Cash Flows.
The finaTTrci81 statements havg départed frorn the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo
the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved followng the Slalement ol
Recommended Piaclice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of
Recommended Practice which is referred lo in the Regulations but which has Sin￿ been wilhdrawn.
The linancjal slalements are prep8red in sterling, which is the functional currency of The Chartwell Children's
Cancer Trusl CIO. Moneiary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
1.2 Charitable funds
Restricted funds are subject to specific Conditions by donors or grantors as lo how they rnay be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are s81 oul in the noles to the financial statemenls.
Endowment funds are subject lo specrfic condllions by donoTS that Ihe capital must be maintained by The
Cha￿e￿I Children's Cancer Trust CIO.
1.3 Income
Income is recognised when The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO is 16gally enlilled lo it after any
performance conditions have been mèt, the amounts can be measuied reliably, and it is probable that income
wll be received.
Cash donations are recognised on recèipt. Other donations are rewgnised On￿ The Chartwell Chlldren's
Can￿[ Trust CIO has been notified ol the donation, unless performance conditions 18qLJire defeiral of the
amount. Income lax reooverable in relation lo donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is
recognised al the time of the donation.
Legacies ar8 recognised oll receipt or otherwise if The Ch8riwell Children's Cancer Trust CIO has been
notified of an impending disliibulitsn, the arnounl is known, and receipt is expected. 11 the amounl is not
known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.
Turnover is measured al the fair va5ue of Ihe c(>nsideralion re￿iVed or receivable and represents 8mounts
receivable lor goods and services prO￿ded in the normal course of business, nel of dis¢ounts. VAT and other
sales related taxes.
