# **Sheffield Street Pastor Coordinator Annual Report 2024 Sheffield Street Pastors: c/o Rock Christian Centre, - 177 195 Spital Hill S4 7LF - Charity number 1162786**

2024 has been a good year. We have had teams out throughout the year and have only had to cancel 1 or 2 throughout the whole year due to illness.

## Teams.

We now have a total of 25 (plus 3 sleeping) Street Pastors from 15 different churches

Andrea has had a break but has returned.

Both Jackie and Becca are having the next rota off but I am hoping they will return soon. Niall is hoping to return as well.

We have had a number of people who trained last year. It is great to welcome Mick Rodgers, Dave Neath, Carys Hoskins and David Francis returning after a few years break.

This rearrangement of people has meant that we are down to 3 out of 4 Friday patrols. A big thanks to all of you for keeping going and supporting us in various ways.

Great to have some possible new people here tonight. We hope that what you hear tonight will encourage you to sign up! Our Training starts on March 22[nd] !

The city centre has seen variations in footfall from being very busy in the summer/autumn as students came back.

With the ‘cost of living’ etc Christmas was fairly quiet and January even more so. Although it does mean we have more time to chat to people.

## Safe Square.

A big plus this year has been the Safe Square. They had funding on and off throughout the year but have now run out of funding. They are hoping to get some in the new financial year. We have worked well with SS both sending people there,

using their 1[st] Aid/medical knowledge. We have even used them to administer 1[st] Aid to one of our own! We have aided them – taking people to hotels / escorting people home for them. It has also meant that with SS dealing with some of the medical/ drunk people we have been able to have better conversations with Door Staff etc.

I have started to attend a meeting trying to find funding for Safe Square, and they now have funding for Feb/March.

## Training.

We ran a R&R in March last year followed by Drugs, Street Safety, Police,1st Aid, Know your community and then a teamwork/Refresher training in September.

## Tramlines

This was a new venture for us this year. We had teams out on

Friday/Saturday/Sunday. The role was quite different. We were very visible and spent time directing people. We did help someone find their phone at the end of the evening. Answer to prayer. Overall, most people enjoyed it and it gave us a public role.

## BBQ

We had the BBQ in the summer as usual.

## Trustees/Committee

The committee has met throughout the year.

## Coordinator.

I have done talks at Christ Church Fulwood, St Maries Cathedral, Wadsley Parish Church this year. Others have done talks – Trev. – Victory Assembly. Thanks to those who have helped with the talks/presentations.

We were invited to a Council/Student event at Uni of Sheffield. Our table was to talk about the NTE. We had some interesting conversations.

I have continued to attend the Licencee’s Unite meetings each month. I am regularly asked what I think at these and have many opportunities through these meetings.

I also attended a meeting called by South Yorks mayor, Oliver Coppard after the summer riots in Rotherham. I have since been invited to a subsequent meeting.

I gave a short notice at SLIP the other week and got out many of these posters. Please take them and get people to come to the R&R in March.

I have done the Charity Return for this year.

Bobbie and I had an Invitation to the Lord Mayors Civic Service back in June.

I was asked to be on the radio just after Christmas talking about the weather!

Then she asked why we do it!! Great opportunity.

All of these are opportunities to put a Christian perspective on things.

For those who need to update their DBS Dave Clarke is now sorting this out. Please help him as much as you can as it is a time-consuming job.

We have had many messages back through Facebook and I do try and pass messages on to the appropriate teams.

WhatsApp continues to work really well both for prayer and for teams.

If there are any supporters who would like to be added to the Prayer App let me know and I can add you. Also please do try and have a few people who support you in the work that you can ask to pray for you on the nights that you are out.

Please let me know if things are low at base so I can restock. (preferably so there is time for me to do it!)

Uniforms – See me if you need anything more/different size.

I received an invitation to BEST BAR NONE celebration dinner at the City Hall. They have chosen us again to be their charity for the evening. PTL.

Finally, a big Thank You to each and every one of you. It is a privilege to be part of a fantastic team. I can send observers out with any team as I know you are all great.
