In 2022, NEEDS Africa undertook several projects aimed at improving the well-being of communities, commemorating the life of a dedicated social worker, and supporting those in need. 1. Memorial Service and Gravestone for a Social Worker in Zimbabwe
One of the most poignant moments of 2022 for NEEDS Africa was its contribution to the purchase of a gravestone and the organization of a memorial service for a long-time partner and dedicated social worker in Zimbabwe who tragically passed away during the 2020 lockdown. The memorial service provided an opportunity for the community to celebrate the life and contributions of this exceptional individual, bringing closure to a difficult period. The gravestone serves as a lasting tribute to their memory.
2. Support to Rise of Hope Academy Football Club
NEEDS Africa supported the Rise of Hope Academy in Zimbabwe, which operates a football club for disenfranchised children. The organization purchased two sets of football kits and made a substantial contribution towards training equipment and other essential running costs. This assistance allowed the academy to provide a safe and engaging environment for children to develop their skills and foster a sense of belonging and discipline.
3. Chair Donation to a Church for the Deaf in East London, South Africa
NEEDS Africa extended its philanthropic efforts to South Africa by purchasing and donating 100 chairs to a church for the Deaf in East London. This contribution aimed to enhance the comfort and accessibility of the church, ensuring that its congregation, primarily composed of individuals with hearing impairments, can fully participate in religious services and community gatherings.
4. Local Assistance
NEEDS Africa recognized the importance of supporting individuals facing financial difficulties in the local community. In 2022, the organization provided financial assistance to two individuals who were experiencing hardship. This support helped alleviate some of their immediate financial burdens, ensuring their basic needs were met.
Additionally, NEEDS Africa undertook a local initiative to provide basic clothing to the homeless in the community. This project sought to improve the quality of life for those who are less fortunate and in need of basic necessities.
5. Support for Fish Rearing Project in Gweru, Zimbabwe
NEEDS Africa expanded its reach and impact by contributing to the startup of a fish rearing project in Gweru, Zimbabwe. This initiative aims to provide a sustainable source of nutrition and income for the local community. By supporting the establishment of the fish rearing project, NEEDS Africa contributes to food security and economic development in the region.
