Christian Charity, operating under a licence
agreement from ASCENSION TRUST.
The objects of the Charitable Incorporated
Organisation are for public benefit, in the
geographic area of GRANTHAM and beyond
as the trustees may from time to time
determine in accordance with Charity Law in
England and Wales, as follows:
(1) To advance the Christian Faith in accordance
with the Street Pastor Licence Agreement with
the “Ascension Trust” through:
(i) the provision of public pastoral care
services to help people on the streets and
other public places, giving guidance, support
and signposting which assist in preserving
public order, avoid anti-social behaviour,
relieve sickness and preserve health and by
(ii) enlightening others about Christianity
through raising awareness and
understanding of ecclesiastical relevance to
community and public life, mobilizing the
Church ecumenically to unity of worship and
to advance the Christian Faith by carrying
out the mission and outreach work of the
Gospel for the benefit of the public.
(2) To develop the capacity and skills of
socially disadvantaged groups in our
community in such a way that they are better
able to identify, and help meet, their needs
and to participate more fully in society; in
particular but not exclusively through raising
awareness, promoting, sustaining and
increasing individual and collective
knowledge, skills and expertise, through the
practical development of individual
capabilities, competences, skills and
understanding through formal training,
informal talks and capacity building in| |||voluntary services, according to Christian
principles and the Street Pastor Urban Trinity
principle of church, police and local
government working together for the benefit
of the community.

Made up of trained volunteers in and around
Grantham go onto the streets most Saturday
nights between 10.30PM and 3.30AM, to
provide pastoral care, in a non-judgmental
way, to those of all faiths and none who for
whatever reason have become vulnerable or
just wish to talk.
This is done in association with the local
council (CCTV operatives), Police and Door
staff, with whom we maintain conversation
with, by phone/radio and in person.
We have a prayer team, also on duty, to pray
for the Street Pastors who are out, those
who need/ask for prayer, and situations that
may arise during the evening - and also who
pray for the town, and those involved in the
nighttime economy generally.| |Statement confirming

targets. The members of the public we
speak to, or comment on social media, say
they feel safer when Street Pastors are
around, and they know there is someone to
talk to, or help, if they feel upset or
vulnerable, or just need to talk anything
through.
The feedback from other agencies (eg
Police, CCTV, door staff) is that the overall
‘atmosphere’ is calmer when we are around,
and they appreciate we are able to handle
minor incidents withot them needing to get
involved. National/regional statistics show,
where Street Pastors are active around the
UK (and elsewhere), that reported
incidences of anti social behaviour and
nuisance crime during nighttime are lower

objectives set|Para 1.41|Following the Covid ‘lockdown’ of 2020, we
emerged with insufficient volunteers to
maintain the aims described above as many
volunteers felt unable to return, even after
Government regulations were lifted (several
being over 70 themselves, or with vulnerable
close relatives). Thus, we have not been
able to operate on the streets since then,
until we have more volunteers trained and in
service, and the operation is viable.
At the moment the charity is also continuing
without a permanent Secretary or Chairman,
while we recruit new trustees.
At the next AGM, having looked again at the
position of available trustees and volunteers,
and after making enquiries about the
possibility of merging (for management
purposes) with a neighbouring SP initiative,
we will put forward a proposal that Grantham
Street Pastors (and the charity) be shut
down, and assets be transferred to said
neighbouring SP initiative, or returned to
