Chair’s Report 2023
The trustees and committee continue to manage the green to keep it in good condition for the enjoyment of parishioners and visitors.
We are pleased that we have several new members of our committee and I thank them wholeheartedly for their valued help in our efforts to keep this valued village asset available to all. Other volunteers are always very welcome to join our team.
Our amazing aerial runway is now up and running and proving very popular, many thanks to the Heveningham Hall Estates for funding and the local children for suggesting this brilliant addition to our facilities.
The newly planted fruit trees in our orchard are doing well and the flowers in our wildflower meadow despite the dry summer fared well and again included Pyramidal Orchids.
These varied flower species themselves attracted a wide variety of beneficial insects, butterflies and bees plus a multitude of moths which are surveyed monthly for us by a county moth expert. We have held three fundraising events during the year, a tabletop sale, Apple Day and a “Horse Race” evening.
Our annual play equipment survey revealed that repairs are required on various items and we are very grateful to the Heveningham Hall Country Fair Trust who have kindly granted us funds to carry out this work.
Plans are still going ahead for the underground installation of power cables to replace the present intrusive overhead ones.
We intend to hold a plant swop event and also to install a shelter to provide protection from inclement weather and shade in summer for visitors, pétanque players etc.
