Chair of PCC'S re ort Qur wonderful church community could not function without the love and dediCat￿on of so many people. Our thanks to our wonderful Churchwardens Karen Clark and Louise Collins and their assistants Stuart Stebbing and Debbie Brown. We are also grateful forthe support of Julie Hardman (Secretary), Alex Clarke (Chairof Flnance Commlttee) and Ihe whole PCC, especially as we have navigated the start of a period of Vacancy. Special thanks to William Munn for his Iwelv8 years. seNice as PCC Tr8asurer until January 2024. Acr088 the Diocese and the Church of ErKJland, financial pressures are very much part of the landscape. and we are no differenl. Whilst W8 are so generously supported by so many people in the congregation, and are working hard to live within our means. our financial sttuation continu8S to be challenging, as we seek lo pay in full our parish share, reach out in mission to the community, arKI justify the retention of a full-time stipendiary post here at West Moors. The PCC has maintained Its ststutory function8 In terms of Safeguarding, through the hard work of Alex Clarke, our Pansh Safeguarding Officer. 2023 began wilh a Parish Vision Day. in the very comfortable and spacious venue, Holtwood Methodist Church, discussing prioritl8s for our church over the next five years. We explored our ideas under three headlngs.. Looking Up- exploring what might deepen our spiritual life,. Looking Out, exploring how we might be more open to God and open to our community of West Moors., Looking In, explorino what might extend and deepen our worshipping life together and potentially attracl new people. The day was very positive and affirming with lots of input and ideas to consider. For obvious reasons, as we moved into Vacancy, newer ideas have nol be8n developed as we have concentrated our efforts on maintaining as much as possible of our existing mission and ministry. In February, Bishop Slephen's introductory tour of Wimbome Deanery included a visit to Sturts Fami. Revd ArKly Muckle, Year 4 Pupils from St Mary, First School with their headteacher Roy Sewell told Bishop Stephen of Our Outreach project and joint initiatives, including the Sharing Shed, Autism Services and Food AWa￿ne$s. Our Lent course. again led by Hom8 Group Leaders. followed the excellent course 'Life on the Frontline, which challenggj us to think about how, as Christians, we can make a drfference in our daily lives. Home Groups continue to be a strong feature of our church life, with a highlight for rnany being a study cours8 based on The Greatest Showman.

14rochial Church Council Of St Mary the Virgin, Wes¢ Moor5 Our Lent Appeal raised £530 for local charity Coping Wrth Chaos. A very personal feeling of collabora￿n wilh such a local organisation, having Fran Gibsr)n and Clare R￿hfQrd speaking al Sunday Eu¢harist and rèceiving bundle of personal thank you cards from the children, made this very inspiring and r8wardlng. Our now customary Soup Lunches in Lent raised £560 for Christian Aid's work in South Sudan. As always, it was delight to have 'awesome' Year 4 students from St Mary's helping to serve food and offer a wann welcome. Great teamworkl Our journey through Lent to Easter was rnarked by the usual liturgies and traditions beginning wlth the buming of Ihe palm crosse8 followed by pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. A new highlight this year was the pilgrimage walk around Sturts Fami on Palm Sunday followed by tea and Gake. Then a joyful Easter moming with a renewal of vows and Easter breakfast followed by Eucharist. We are an Easter people and the celebration of resuffection and new life was uplifting and inspiring. Further highlights included gaining our EGO Church Silver Award recognising the ongoing contribution of the whole church community as we V￿rk towards Net Zero. Celebrating the coronation of King Chart8s111 marked a significant hlstorfc occasion and we were dellghted to welcome our MP Sir Christopher Chope. local counclllors and representatives of community organisations in Wesl Moors for a comm8morative Se￿iCe followed by a buffat reoption. The priesting of our Gurate Revd Michael Eaton and his wife Kat8 at Salisbury cathedral was a joyful occasic)n with due celebratory lunch and cake after Revd Michael's first presiding at communion at St Mary's. A group of us attended a Celebratory Service outsid8 the cathedral - with picnic bags arKI lively music - when the Archbishop of Cant8tbury, Justin Welby. made his Mlssion Visit to Salisbury. Yet another lively occasion at St Mary's with wonderfu5 food and cake was when said goodbye to Revd Andy Muckle. Becky and Isla in July.. As expected when partlng from those who have becom8 such loved and valued members of our farnily, there were tears and sadness. But it was a celebration loo as we recognised all that has been achieved in the time that Revd Andy has led, guided, encouraged and inspired us during hls four years as parish priest and Vicar of St Mary's. And so much of this during an unp￿CedenIed arKI prolonged period of global pandemic. It was with déep gratitude and love, we offered our thanks and our best wishes as the Muckle family embarked on a new stage of their journey as Revd Andy followed his call to be the Chaplain of St George's Crypt in Le8d8. Community services and O￿a$10n$. like RemembranGe and Carols on th8 Pèwn in association vvith Churches Together in West McK)rs, have been very well attended and it has been a greal joy to see our curate Revd Michael Eaton take on the responsibility of presiding at these occasions during th8 Vacancy. Newer services- h(ALL)@4 and Sunday@10 We￿ becoming well established and well attended,. we have tried hard to keep these services running during the Vacancy, although. as might be expected, there has been some fall in attendance during the Vacancy. The quarterly Dementia Friendly servI￿s continu8 to be well re￿ived. There have been many social and fundraislng events including a new very successful highlight - a Fashion Show. The very popular Tea@3 continues to reach out to the wider community offering fellowshlp and a warm welcome - with lots of cake! Saturday B ￿akfast - for everyone - has been revived wilh a new Chef and cO￿rdInator. Stuart Stebbing. his Sous-chef Paul Brealey and the continuing support ofJan Munn and Peter Dunning. Seasonal Community Lunches again at The Bridge House Hotel were attended by over 100 peopl8. In September the PCC met with Archdeacon, The Venerable Penny Sayer and Assistant Archdeacon, Revd Canon Lucy Holt as we began the process of finding the person God was calling to be our new Vicar. In Octob8r Revd Canon Lucy Holt led a Viston Day for PCC mernbers where we asked key questions.. What is

Parochial Church Council Of St Mary the Virgin, West Moors distinctive about our church? whe￿ do we feel God is leading us? What sort of person do w8 need to lead us on the nexl stage of our journe￿ This led to the writing of the Parish Profile and Person Specification after many contributions from th8 whole congregation and puplls at St Mary's First School. Karen Clark and Gillian Clarke were unanimously elected by PCC to be Parish Representatives during the discernment and appointment process. Our ministry to West Moors is a shared ministry and we give thanks for the dedication of so many p80pI8 - our organists, choir, servers, those who contribute to our seThices with prayers and readings, Sacristsn, flower arranggrs, hospitalrty teams, those who look after our beautrful church, fundraisers, Ihose WF manage our finances, those who keep us safe, Motherfs Union, group leaders, and so many more.
