|inanci|al<br>Review|||
|---|---|---|---|
|Review|ofthe charily's|Para 1.21|The balance<br>in hand at the end ofthe|
|financial|position at the end||period was in excess of630,000, against|
|ofthe period|||a reserves<br>policy off15,000.|
||||With Covid-19 restrictions<br>now lifted,|
||||another couple ofissues arose that had|
||||an impact on Anglesey<br>Foodbank (AFB).<br>The main one is the "Cost of Living|
||||crisis". This had a number offactors|
||||that have and impacted<br>the operations|
||||at AFB.|
||||Firstly, the increase<br>in food prices lead|
||||to an initial decrease<br>in food donations.|
||||This in turn meant that supermarkets|
||||were implementing<br>a restricted<br>buying|
||||amount ofitems though<br>we have a good|
||||relationship<br>with the local supermarkets|
||||and are able to work around this for|
||||now. This has meant that more food|
||||needs to be bought<br>in to cover the|
||||needs, but as this cost is currently|
||||covered by the local authority,<br>the|
||||impact is only short term.|
||||Secondly, the impact on fuel prices|
||||meant that it has become a little more|
||||costly to deliver especially<br>being<br>in a|
||||rural area ofWales where public|
||||transportation<br>is infrequent<br>or non-|
||||existent. Subsequently,<br>the cost of|
||||maintenance<br>ofthe vehicles will|
||||increase as prices inflation takes hold|
||||on suppliers.|
||||Thirdly, we have seen an increase to our|
||||electricity<br>bills due to the renewal|
||||period. It is on a fixed price contract for|
||||the next 3 years which gives us a little|
||||stability though we are not a big|
||||consumer ofelectricity.|
||||There has been an increase<br>in the|
||||donations<br>made online to AFB|
||||especially<br>during<br>the latter quarter of|
||||the year. As we do little promotion<br>for|
||||donations,<br>this is essentially<br>done by|
||||"word-of-mouth".<br>We have also noticed|
||||an increase<br>in the use ofshopping|
||||voucher donations<br>during<br>the last which|
||||is an interesting<br>trend.|
||||We continue to employ a warehouse|
||||operations<br>manager<br>(full time) and|
||||driver (part time) which as planned,<br>has|
||||led to a consistency<br>in operating<br>the|
||||delivery service. There was a concern|
||||over funding<br>employees<br>given monetary|

|||||||||donations<br>may decrease and the||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|||||||||increase<br>in demand<br>for our services||
|||||||||post April 2023.||
|||||||||However, we have applied for and have||
|||||||||been successful<br>in obtaining<br>a large||
|||||||||grant from the National<br>Lottery People &||
|||||||||Places grant. This will cover our||
|||||||||employment<br>cost over the next two||
|||||||||years beginning<br>from April 2023.||
|||||||||AFB will be focussing<br>on further grant||
|||||||||applications<br>to sustain the operation||
|||||||||over the next year. With the employment||
|||||||||costs taken care of, it relieves a lot|of|
|||||||||pressure<br>on the funds for buying food||
|||||||||items in the potential decrease<br>in food||
|||||||||and monetary<br>donations.||
|||||||||We continue to improve our warehouse||
|||||||||operations<br>and have to thank the||
|||||||||volunteers<br>who have come in and have||
|||||||||worked<br>hard to increase efficiency|and|
|||||||||have been encouraged<br>to implement||
|||||||||measures<br>with our full support.||
