Trustee Annual Report for Salle Angelo Fencing Club
Charity Number: 1162416 Year Ended: December 31, 2023
Introduction
The Trustees of Salle Angelo Fencing Club are pleased to present the annual report for the year ending December 31, 2023. This report outlines the activities, achievements, and financial performance of the charity over the past year. Despite facing continued challenges from the impact of COVID-19, we have made significant strides in engaging new communities and fostering an inclusive approach to fencing.
Impact of COVID-19
The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to affect the charity’s operations, with reduced attendance from our existing members and difficulties in attracting new members. Many of our regular participants have been slow to return, and recruiting fresh faces has proven challenging in a competitive landscape. These challenges have affected our overall income and ability to maintain consistent sessions.
Financial Overview
-
Total Income : £1,237.41
-
Total Expenditure : £1,769.00
-
Year-End Balance : £416.67
The charity faced a shortfall between income and expenditure for the year, primarily due to reduced membership and donation income. As a result, we have been forced to carefully manage our expenses, and our year-end balance stands at £416.67. The Trustees are committed to improving our financial position moving forward, though we remain optimistic that our outreach and community engagement efforts will help us recover.
Key Achievements
Despite the financial challenges, we have achieved several milestones that have kept the spirit of Salle Angelo Fencing Club alive:
1. Visually Impaired Fencing Initiatives :
- One of the highlights of the year was the introduction of fencing to visually impaired adults. We have had the privilege of working with a small group, and one individual has shown particular interest and promise in the sport. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to inclusivity, and we are excited to continue nurturing this new aspect of our work.
2. Partnership with RNIB : The charity has provided introductory fencing sessions to the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), broadening our outreach to a new audience. These sessions have been well-received, and we hope to continue developing this relationship in the coming years.
3. Relocation of Fencing Activities :
In response to reduced income and the ongoing need for cost savings, the charity has moved its fencing activities to a local Scout Group Hall. While the new venue is smaller than the previous Leisure Centre Hall, it offers valuable connections to the Cubs and Scouts, which we hope will attract new members and participants from these groups.
Challenges and Plans for the Future
While the charity has faced significant challenges, we remain hopeful about the future. Our efforts to work with new communities, such as visually impaired adults and young people through the Scouts, provide a promising avenue for growth. We are committed to continuing our outreach and promoting fencing as an inclusive and engaging activity for people of all abilities.
In the coming year, the Trustees will continue to explore ways to reduce costs, improve member engagement, and build stronger community ties to ensure the sustainability of Salle Angelo Fencing Club.
Conclusion
The Trustees are grateful to all of our supporters, members, and volunteers who have contributed to the charity’s efforts in what has been a challenging year. While the road to recovery may take time, we are optimistic about the future and excited to continue serving our community and promoting the sport of fencing to all.
We look forward to another year of progress and development as we work toward building a stronger, more inclusive fencing club for the future.
