Financial Review
Income and Expenditure
For the year ending 31 December 2022, the charity had the following financial results:
-
Income : £4,358 This income includes £3,068 received from a grant, which was critical in supporting our operations and programs during a challenging year. The remaining income of £1,290 was generated from membership fees, donations, and fundraising activities.
-
Expenditure : £3,278.50
-
Our expenditure primarily consisted of costs related to venue hire, coaching fees, equipment purchases, and operational expenses necessary to keep the club running smoothly and ensure that our members receive high-quality training and support.
Final Balance
As of 31 December 2022, the final balance for the year stood at £1,355.26 , which will be carried forward to help support the Club’s activities in the coming year. The positive balance reflects prudent management of our finances, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Impact of COVID-19
The pandemic and the resulting lockdowns had a significant impact on our club’s membership and activities. Restrictions on social gatherings and sports events led to a decline in membership, as many members were unable to attend training sessions or participate in competitions. Although we were able to return to in-person activities as restrictions eased, rebuilding our membership base has taken longer than anticipated.
Despite these challenges, we have remained focused on delivering our programs and ensuring that our members receive the support and resources they need. We are optimistic about the future and committed to recovering from the effects of the pandemic.
Future Plans
Looking ahead to 2023, we plan to:
-
Focus on membership growth : We will be targeting a broader audience, including schools, local youth groups, and other community organisations, to rebuild and grow our membership base.
-
Increase fundraising efforts : With the help of our supporters, we will explore new fundraising opportunities to ensure we can continue to offer high-quality programs while keeping fees affordable.
-
Invest in outreach : We will be working to raise the profile of the club and the sport of fencing within the community, ensuring that more people are aware of the opportunities available.
We are grateful for the continued support from our members, volunteers, and donors, and we look forward to an exciting year of growth and recovery in 2023.
