Para 1.20 | As mentioned in our 2022-2023 report, the number of people immigrating to the UK from Hong Kong under the BNO policy continues to grow. The total number of attendees at Sunday worship services has increased to 170-200 people. To enhance the progress of our ministry, we have hired two part-time pastors to assist with the work of the Cantonese and Mandarin congregations, respectively. Additionally, we expanded the Cantonese congregation's leadership team by adding two members, bringing the total to seven, thereby strengthening the foundation for community representation. To help new Hong Kong immigrants better understand the Chinese community in the UK, we once again invited the “Chinese Association for Cancer Care” and “The Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation” to introduce their organizations and ministries. We also reorganized our cancer care group, enabling us to extend greater care and support within the community. |

Report to the trustees/members of: Ebenezer Chinese Christian Church On the accounts for the year ended: 31 March 2024 Charity No: 1162411
Respective responsibilities of the trustees and the examiner
The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
(a) examine the accounts (under section 43 of the act), (b) to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act), and
-
(c) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the reports is limited top those matters set on in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
1 which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements: (a) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and (b) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act; have not been met; or
-
2 to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
