South Downs Gospel HallTrust Public Benefit Report 202312024 The purpose ofthis report is to show howthe South Downs Gospel HallTwst community engage in acis of public benefit forthe wider community. The Plymouth Brethren weie estsblished in 1828 when John Nelson Darby broke wth the established Church in Dublin. Darby and others formed a fellowship based on the strict obseNance of Christian tea¢hings as set out in the Holyscriptures. Oarby came to Plymouth in the early 1830s. and the congregation grew rapidly. Early publications were produced in Plymouth and distributed to other congregations of followers throughoutthe globe. Introductlon There are over 18,000 Plymouth Brethren members in the UK. spread across 86 locations. There have been Brethren meeting haLis in the Haslemere area since 1906. The South Downs Gospel HaitTnJst was formed on 14 October 2005 forthe carrying on the service of God. including the celebration of the Lord's Supper. Gospel Preachings, Bible Readings and addresses on the Word of God and other rneetings of a Christian religious character accordingto the injunctions contained in the Holy Scriptures and the tenets and practices of ihose Christians forming a worldwide fellowship known as Plymouth Brethren. The South Downs Gospel HallTrust has 190 members living in the Grayshott and Haslemere districts. Currently the main chosen location is on High Street. Haslemere. outside the fonner HSBC Bank building. Street pr¢a¢hings have been held here for manyyears. The aim of the street preaching is not to recruit additional members for the Plymouth Brethren but to present eternal salvation 88 available to all men byfaith in Jesus Christ and Hi5 blood and Hisworkofatonement.
