The Hive Food Bank is constituted as a charitable incotVOTated organisation regi5ter¢d with the
Charity Commission on 24 June 2015. It is govemed by a Constitution of a Clwitable Incorporat¢d
Organisation whose only voting members are its charity tNstees, which was submitted to the
Charity Commission on incorporation of ihe Charity.
Organisational structure
The charity trustee5 are responsible for the general conti'ol and management of the chwity. The
trustees give their lim¢ freely and receive no TemuneratÉon or other financial benefits.
The trustees ineet together regularly on an infomial basis and have a fonnal quarterly trustee
meeting. They are responsible for ail decisions taken in relation to running the food bank and the
activities provided by the charity.

Recruitment and appointment of trustees
The Conslilution of the charity dictat¢s that there must be at least 3 charity trustees and that the
maximum number of charity Irustee% is 7. If the charity wishes to appoint more trustees the charity
trustees must have regard lo the Skills, knowledge and cxperience needed for the effective
administration of the charity. In additlon, the charity will make available to each new Charity
trustee, on or before his or her first appointm¢nt: (a) a copy of the current version of the
constitution, and (b) a copy of the charity's latest Trnstees, Annual Report and statement of
accounts,
Objectives and aims

The prevention or relief of poverty in London by providing il¢rns and sei'vices
to individuals in need andlor charities, or other organisations working to prevent or
reliev¢ poverty;
Th¢ relief of financial hardship or distress among people in need living or working in
London by providing siich persoiis with food whT¢h they could not otherwise afford
through lack of means and in such olher ways as the trustees think fil from time to time.
our activities deliver public benefit

During the period the r¢port relates to. weekly sessions distributiiig tood supplies to p¢ople in
iittd continued tliroughout tlie period. As the COVID-19 pandeniic continued and the cost of
living crisis enierged, the need for the charily's services remained at a vastly increased level. New
volunteers were rc¢i'uit¢d and trained during the period. in order to assist with both we¢kly
sesstoiis and fundraising activities. Shift managers were also recTUited from the charity's existing
pool of volunteers. who took on leadcrship positions with responsibility for rnnning distribution
sessions and management of other volunteer5. I-he trustees continued to organis¢ food donations
and developed relationships with supermarket distribution centres in order to provide a .%teady
buffer of food supplies for weekly distribution sessions. Relationships with local community
service providei's who act as refen'ers weTe developed and strengthened, with such referrers
ontinuing to identify those iii need and refer them to the Charity.
Achievements and performance
Th¢ charity continued the weekly disti-ibution sessions and provided food supplies lo bencficiaries
in necd. Food donations were also given to theeharity during this tim¢, and support

from local charitable organisations enabled Ihe stock ora buffer of food Provisions for the charity.
Strong relationships were built and maintained with local Community organisations. strengthening
the support gFiven by the charity to benefictaries in the local commuiiily.
Financial review and results for the period ending 31 December 2022
Reserves poliey
The trust¢¢s have maintained a reserves policy of £lOOO.
During the pertod in qu¢stion. the charity had income totalling £30,888 and expenditure Éotalling
£44,551. Please see Appcndix I for the financial stalement for the peri¢MI in question.
As the charity had an annual tncome in excess of £25,000 for the financial year ending 31
December 2020. the trustees have arranged for Margaret Laithwait. an independent person who
has experience in charity accounting to carry out an independent exaniination of the charity's
accounts. Pursuant to the Charities Act 2011, the trustees reasonably believe that Margaret
Laithwaite has the requisite ability and practical experience to carry out a competent examination
of th¢ ¢hai'ily's accounts.
The examiner's report to th¢ trustees is appended as Appendix 2 to this r¢port.
The trustees declare that they have approved ihe trustees, rcport above.

charity ('the Trust.) for the year ended 3111212022
