Helping Hands for Education, Charity Number 1162358 Annual Report: April 1, 2024– March 31, 2025

Helping Hands for Education was approved as a Charitable Incorporated Organization in June 2015 by the Charity Commission under the charity number 1162358. It is governed by a constitution last updated in May 2015.

## Organisational Structure

The charity trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The trustees meet as a body on an ad hoc basis and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the charity,

including the recruitment and appointment of any new trustees and any capital expenditure.

## Objectives

The charity’s key aims and objectives are to advance the education of children and adults living in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria, through the provision of:

i) A public library specializing in educational books with a particular focus on English, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, the Sciences, Information Technology and general works of reference.

ii) Classroom facilities and equipment, including access to information technology for the general public.

iii) Such support to local schools as shall be thought fit, including furnishings, facilities, equipment and staff training to improve educational standards; and

iv) Grants or scholarships to students under the age of 20 for educational fees, courses and equipment as shall be deemed appropriate.

Strategies and Activities

During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, we were able to raise sufficient funding to continue developing our project. All interior spaces of the building have now been covered with terrazzo flooring and the interior walls and ceilings were completed. In addition, the entire building has been painted inside. The initial work on the wiring and plumbing systems (electrical conduits and pipework) has been completed, but the final fittings have not yet been installed.

The next stage of the project is to install the electrical fittings such as lights, fans, power sockets and generators, as well as the purchase and plumbing of toilets and washbasins. The installation of solar panels is also currently under consideration. We intend to commission and install some library furniture (desks, chairs and bookcases) to make at least a part of the building operational by the end of the next financial period and we will continue with our fundraising efforts to complete the project, God willing.
