Sheppey Promenade’s Charitable Purposes are as follows- The achievement of education and promotion of the arts for the public benefit but not exclusively by the provision and Management of a Heritage Centre that will facilitate learning in History, Geography, Culture, Arts and the Environment within the area of the Isle of Sheppey area of benefit). Carrying out our Charitable purposes by organising the following:
New Garden furniture proving great asset to the Garden and improvement it is our Intention to erect a fence between neighbours garden and ours to give more privacy
New personalised items for sale to promote the Cottage ie Bags/Mugs/ Pens and Keyrings. Cake stands have been made for sale along with novelty Tea Cosies.
Month of June we are took part in the Festival of Sheppey. Volunteers on launch day travelled by train from Sheerness to Sittingbourne to collect local M.P and Mayor to come back to Sheerness for a Civic Reception where each Heritage Site gave a short explanation of their Site which can be found on You-Tube. Volunteers where dressed in Vintage Attire for the 40’s to advertise for the Event at the Cottage later in June as part of the Festival.
Volunteers attended a separate Event held at Sheerness Job Centre to help recruit new Volunteers and YTS Students. Lots of interest shown and Networking.
Upstairs rooms changed to reflect Cottage History with new Bedroom and revised room of Curiosities
Downstairs Hallway repainted and re boarded by Volunteers to exhibit local photos representing aspects of Island life and Cottage History
Volunteer to attend an Event held by Age Concern for Dementia patients dressed in 40’s attire including vintage prams and 40’s memorabilia.
Seaside Festival held in July to include Arts, Crafts which are seaside related
Sheppey Carnival, volunteers will be taking part in the Parade advertising the Cottage.
Continued work to making Shed disability friendly for access for workshops and art exhibitions previously unable to grant access to anyone with a disability owing to very steep stairs
Autumn and Christmas events planned with appropriate window displays to reflect events
