## **Trustees Report to the Charities Commission**

Registered Charity Number – 1162305.  First registered on 19[th] June, 2015. 

Address – Boathouse 18, Commercial Wharf, Plymouth, Devon PL1 2NX. 

Trustees –Alan Rudge, Eddie Harper, Mike Duffield MBE. 

Responsibility for the day to day running of the Association  rests with The President, Chairman, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer together with up to six other members of the Management Committee.  Three Trustees, each serving for three years (one being elected annually to replace a retirement) have overall responsibility. The Officers and Committee Members are elected or reelected annually. 

This year we have benefitted from the additional skills provided by recent volunteers. A new Web Site has been organized and several older versions removed. The new site is proving popular and will be enlarged and improved as time goes on. Many of the important association documents are also being stored “on line”. 

Sailability sessions continued from May to October though several had to be cancelled due to gale force winds in August and September. 86 disabled sailors and their carers took to the water, supported by 8 volunteers each session. It became obvious, early in the season, that some of our regular sailors were not sufficiently sure footed to access our craft at low tidal conditions. However, the installation of an additional pontoon should overcome this problem for the coming season.  It is intended that more sessions afloat for our disabled sailors will be possible in 2024 as “Tenacity” will be joined by “Clare Milne”, a second Longboat, following generous grants from Sport England, The Clare Milne Foundation and the Bruce Wake Charitable Trust. 

Staff training has continued throughout the year with several RYA certificates in Sailing and powerboating being earned, “Man overboard” recovery skills have been honed and various shorebased skills with winch, hoist and crane mastered. Three volunteers are ready for Instructor training and it is hoped this can happen very soon.
