activities:
1. Operating the SMMMS Clinic in Kiyet,
Janamora to provide basic medical and
healthcare services, including 24/7 emergency
and delivery services as well as basic health
education to more than 14,400 residents in
local communities;
2. Deploying Mobile Medical Outreach Nurse
Teams to conduct mobile clinics and provide
diagnosis, treatment, referral and follow-up as
well as basic health education for roughly
108,000 people living in 23 of the most
underserved communities in the Zone;
3. Delivering Integrated Professional Midwifery
Services to build capacity and improve the
quality 24/7 reproductive, maternal and
neonatal services in 7 government health
centres serving a total population of 226,900,
of whom 53,500 are women ages 15-49;
4. Providing Emergency Medical Evacuation
Services from remote mountain communities
in 4 catchment areas to local health centres;
5. Developing seven (7) health centres of
excellence with the necessary capabilities to
provide essential women’s healthcare.
6. Supporting the Debark Regional Hospital,
which is the only general hospital for the Zone,
with critical medical equipment and supplies,
specialist training, and technical assistance;
7. Sponsoring “Doctors for the Simien Mountains”
to provide advice, training and assistance to
local healthcare authorities and facilities;
8. Sponsoring “Best Health Centre Maternity

result of the civil war between the Federal
Government and the Tigrayan Peoples’
Liberation Front (TPLF), we had to suspend our
sponsorship of volunteers to do field work in the
project area under our “Doctors for the Simien
Mountains”programme in 2022.| ## **Achievements and Performance** ||SORP ref|| |---|---|---| |Summary of the main

whole.|Para 1.20|Our main achievements in 2022 have benefitted
more than 349,300 people living in remote,
inaccessible and underserved communities in the
Simien Mountains as follows:
1. The SMMMS clinic in Janamora provided
medical and health care to 5,767 patients, an
increase of 69% from the previous year, as
well as 119 deliveries, family planning for 882
women, screening 1,114 women for breast
cancer and 146 for cervical cancer with 12
women treated; 17,990 local residents
received public health education. We also
began construction of a new a new maternal
waiting house for the clinic.
2. Our five (5) mobile community nurse teams
provided general healthcare to for 6,390
patients, who were also screened for TB, as
well as 2,466 perinatal checks, family
planning for 2,746 women, and health
education to 41,505 local residents.
3. SMMMS BSc midwives working in seven (7)
local health centres performed 7,284
antenatal care checks, 1,438 safe deliveries
and 1,893 postnatal care checks, as well as
family planning services for 8,258 women,
screened 9,012 women for breast cancer and
399 women for cervical cancer with 38
treated.| 4. We provide women’s healthcare services for more than 7,679 women at the UNHCR Centre for Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) from the civil war at Kulch Meda, including 1,981 antenatal checks, 648 safe deliveries and 993 postnatal care checks, as well as family planning services for 1,931 women, screened 1,993 women for breast cancer and 133 women for cervical cancer with 11 treated. 5. Under our “Health Centre of Excellence” project with the North Gonder Zone we accomplished the following: a. Provide monthly Health Centre Mentoring to improve reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child healthcare (RMNCH) at our clinic and the 7 health centres we support. b. Certified 24 midwifes with University of Gondar on cervical cancer screening and treatment using cryotherapy. c. Equipped 7 health centres and our clinic with portable thermocoagulation devices to implement “one-visit” cervical cancer screening and treatment. d. Issued hand-help haemoglobin Blood Analysers and non-pneumatic anti-shock garments (NASGs) to the 7 health centres we support and provided onsite training and certification. 6. Our Emergency Medical Evacuation Teams completed Ethiopian Red Cross Basic Trauma First Aid training course this year and were called out 1,599 times, 17% more than last year. The transported 608 expectant mothers for antenatal care visits, 369 for deliveries and 320 for their postnatal check, as well as for 302 emergencies! Provided medical staff to the Debark Hospital Casualty Treatment Centre to provide emergency medical care for military and civilian casualties from the conflict and support to the UNHCR Internally Displace Persons Centre in Kulch-Meda. ## **Additional information (optional)** You may choose to include further statements where relevant about: |Achievements against
