## **Report of the Trustees for the year ending 31[st] December 2024** 

Rushjudo presents its annual report and accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2024 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011, the trust deed, and the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 

## **OUR AIMS** 

To provide opportunities for everyone within the community to take part in judo. From beginners to advanced competitive players. Incorporating children, adults, and those with learning disabilities / special educational needs. 

To ensure that everyone can access judo regardless of their financial means or circumstances. 

## **OUR OBJECTIVES** 

- Maintain “charity” status for Rushjudo. 

- Maintain and decorate the “Dojo” to a high standard. 

- Introduce a National Squad player pathway guide for parents. 

- Increase the coaching staff by investing in our more experienced players and ensuring there is succession management. 

- Maintain the regional Centre of excellence for performance and special needs players. 

## **1. Overview and Introduction** 

Rush Judo is a registered charity committed to promoting the sport of judo within the local community, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. 

Throughout 2024, the club continued to deliver high-quality coaching, athlete development, and community outreach programs, fostering both physical and personal growth among members. Rush Judo remains dedicated to upholding the core values of judo—respect, discipline, and perseverance—while increasing participation and accessibility. 




## **2. Membership and Growth** 

The club maintained strong membership numbers during 2024, with steady growth across youth and senior categories. 

- Total members at year-end: -150 

- 30% Female participation 

- New members in 2024: -35 

- Junior members (under 16): 60% 

Rush Judo continues to attract participants through taster sessions, local school partnerships, and word-of-mouth reputation for high-quality coaching and a welcoming community ethos. 

## **3. Competitions and Results** 

2024 was a successful competitive year for Rush Judo athletes at regional and national levels. Members represented the club in multiple British Judo Association (BJA) sanctioned events, achieving strong results across age groups. 

Highlights include: 

- 10 Gold, 15 Silver, and 20 Bronze medals at regional competitions 

- Representation at the British Judo National Championships, with four athletes finishing in top five positions 

- Michael Fryer Winning Silver on the IJF world tour 

- Lewis Fryer winning three medals on the European tour 

- Lewis Fryer and Zhakin Satari selected to compete for GB at the world Championships 

- Participation in the Northern Home Counties and London area events 

- Continued progress of performance athletes within the England Talent Development Pathway 

The club also hosted internal grading events and friendly inter-club competitions, promoting skill development and community spirit. 




## **4. Coaching and Development** 

Rush Judo continues to invest in the professional development of its coaching team to maintain the highest standards of instruction and safeguarding. 

Key achievements in 2024: 

- Two coaches attained BJA Level 2 qualifications – Steve Temple and Ian Leroux. 

- One new assistant coach joined the team – Stan Walker. 

- Annual safeguarding and first aid refreshers completed for all coaches 

- Ongoing mentoring for young assistant coaches through the club’s “Future Coaches” programme 

The club remains fully compliant with the British Judo Association’s coaching, insurance, and safeguarding standards. 

## **5. Events and Community Outreach** 

Rush Judo remains deeply embedded in the local community. In 2024, the club expanded its outreach initiatives, focusing on inclusion and accessibility. 

Highlights: 

- Delivery of judo sessions in three local schools 

- Continued “Adaptive Judo” sessions for children and adults with additional needs 

- Collaboration with local councils to provide summer holiday sports programmes 

- Participation in community events such as sports festivals and open days 

These initiatives support the charity’s objective of using judo to promote health, confidence, and social inclusion. 

## **6. Financial Summary** 

Rush Judo operated on a sound financial footing during 2024. The club’s income was generated through membership fees, grants, fundraising, and sponsorship, which were reinvested directly into club operations, equipment, coaching development, and community programs.

- Total Expenditure: £56,217 

- Operating Surplus: £5.00 

- The charity continues to manage its resources prudently, ensuring all funds are used to further its charitable objectives. 




## **7. Governance and Compliance** 

The trustees met quarterly during 2024 to oversee governance, financial management, and strategic direction. The charity remained compliant with all regulatory and safeguarding obligations under the Charity Commission and British Judo Association frameworks. 

Key governance actions: 

- Annual review of safeguarding and welfare policies 

- Updated risk assessment and emergency procedures 

- Transparent financial reporting to members 

## **8. Goals for 2025** 

Looking ahead, Rush Judo aims to build on the successes of 2024 with the following objectives: 

1. Expand community engagement by increasing partnerships with local schools and community groups. 

2. Enhance competitive performance through structured athlete development pathways and regional squad collaboration. 

3. Develop club infrastructure, exploring funding for mat upgrades and facility improvements. 

4. Support coach progression by sponsoring additional qualifications and mentoring programmes. 

5. Promote inclusion by growing adaptive and female-focused judo sessions. 

## **9. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The trustees are satisfied that Rush Judo’s activities in 2024 delivered clear and measurable public benefit through sport, education, and community inclusion.
