Staff and volunteer worklng
The foodbank employs three members of staff. The trustees conducted a
staffing review to represent the future direction of Ihe organisation as a
Pathfinder Foodbank. The new collegiate approach slruclLJre was
adopted by the trustees and commenced in June 2024. 11 dispensed with
Ihe neeij for a foodbank manager but brought in thfee new iuleb. Th
Operations Manager. The Strategic Development Manager, and the
Operations Supervisor. Each rolc is equally valued and they are
expected to work collaboratively to ensure that the foodbank not only
offers an emergency approach but also introduces strategies to give long
term solutions for Clients. The restructuring was aimed al ensuring the
Pathfinder commitment continued. Staff salaries were uplifted
commensurale with the new job descriptions.
The slralegic development manag&r is responsible for Ihe foodbank's
developmenl plan which is ambitious and was well received at the annual
review by Trussell Tnjsl.
Additionally, each trustee was givon a role and responsibilities. Thi$
initiative was aimed al supporting the staff and volunteer leam. Trustee

Section D
Achievements and performance
Wrexham Foodbank does not celebrate achievements bul prides itself on
responding to the needs of those in Ihe community who are struggling lo
buy the essentials such as food and fuel.
Summary of the main
achlevements oflhe charfty
during tho year
Food distribution:
Thè foodbank distributed 10,361 food parcels in 202412025 which fed
7042 adu113 and 3319 ¢hildren. 270/0 ol Ihc children were under thè age
of 4 years and 71 % of chIld￿n we fed were under the age of 11 years.
To work rn0￿ efficientty with referral partners. we reduced the number of
agencies on our reqister to around 70. Wrexham County Borough
Council departments of Housing and Economy and Housing Support
Officers, Wrexham CAB, Maximus. and Warm Wales are the agencies
we woth with on a very regular basis The fixidbank also provides space
for some agencies, such as Hafren Dyfdvry and MIND. lo offer advice
and support al the 5dlellil¥ centres.
Thoro are a significant number of rgagons why client$ are réferred lo the
foodbank. The benefits system is al the core ol reasons why people
need help from the fc*]dbank. Among the many reasons are
unemployment after temporary or permanent work.. low income with no
benefits or low income with some benefits.. changes or delays in the
benefit system,. health related matters both physical and mental., debt;
domestic abuse., substance misuse,. insecurely housed and no recourse
lo public funds. Increasingly. low Income. ￿sIng cosls and mental health
issues appear lo b& the main reasons for requesting help from the
foodbank. There are more families coming to Ihe foodbank who are in
employment bul simply do not earn enough. There has been a 48Vo
increase in demand for our support compared wilh S yp.ars agn.
Interestingly. Ih8re is a decline in requests for help when the govemment
gives more financial support This appears to indicate that people seek
support from Ihe foodbank when there is a dire need and they simply do
not have enough money lo purchase food.
Working closely with Refvgee Kindness. EYST, 8awso and other refugee
agencles has been an Important pari of Ilie r(MxJbaiik'5 work and the
provision of halal pa￿1$ from the warehouse and delivered on the home
delivery seryice has bccn opprccialed by these agenciès.
Food slock..
Disappointingly. food donations showed a considerable declin8 and the
loodbank had lo purchase subslanlially more food lo make the parcels.
To illustrate Ihe change, il is useful to note that in 2022123, the nel stock
was +6 tonnes.. 2023124 showed a nel stock of-2 tonnes and 2024125
saw a significant decline lo net stock of- 32 tonnes. This meanl that rhe
foodbank spent just under £21 k purchasing food in 202314 and £42+k in
2024125.
The foodbank relies heavily on donations ospocially during the harv8st
and Christmas seasons. The Christmas food drives al Asda and Tesco
make a bio drfference to stock levels.
Given that the fcM)dbank musl provide specific items in the parcels
according lo the Tru5sell Trust franchise agreement, for much of the
period, the foodbank was purchasing food at around £5000 per month.
TAR
March 2012

Section D
Achievements and performance
The eight satellites vary in how many parcels they distribute bul the
important issue is that they serve a broad geographical area and there is
access lo a distribution centre throughout the working week. The Injstees
changed the way in which one satellite operated to bring il In line with
other salelliles and ease the pressure on food distn'bulion. We also
moved venues for one of our satellites to a more favourable and
welcoming locatson.
The staff and volunleer team engaged in a review of the way in which
8atelliles operated lo drive the concept of efficiency and con31Stency
across the organisalion ensuring that the client journey was paramount in
how we approached our operations and dignity was at the hegrt of how
we support clients.
The volunteer training programme was continued and the foodbank
registered new volunteers Wofking in all aspects of foodbank operations.
The operations manager conducts manual handling training for all
volunteers and signposting training is part of Ihe remil for the strategic
development mai)agei.
Tho CMA Connect contr& continugd lo provide valuable support to tho$9
in financial difficulties by helping with debt and budgetary management.
The money mentors also provide a home visit seNice which is enabled
by the foodbank.
The foodbank settled into new premises and it has been a beneficial
move given that the landlord is supportive and has offered an annual
licence while we continue our search for larger premises.
We We￿ ple8Jed to acctpl the offer from Toyota of an electric van lo use
free of charge for one year. Given that our van is in use every day with
restocks, collections and deliveries the offer was greatly appreciated.

Financial review
As al 3110312025. the Charity held £250,954 in unreslricled reserves. The
principal financial risk facing Ihe Charity is the wtenlial loss or reduction
of extemal grant funding.
Brlef Statement of Ihe
Charfty's pollcy on reserves
The Charity's reserves policy is to maintain sufficient Un￿strICted funds
lo cover 12 month5 of oyeraliuiial costs. enabling Gontinuity of serviG8 in
the event of a fvnding shortfall and providing flexibility to rest)ond lo
unforeseen cxpenditure or strategic opportunities.
Baspd fLJrrent 8xpenditurÈ levels reflected in this year's financial
