Objectives and Activities
To promote community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for playing tennis.
To develop the talents of young tennis players by providing coaching facilities and competition opportunities.
To provide equal opportunities for all groups within the sport, irrespective of gender, ethnic origin, religious or political belief or any kind of physical or mental disability.
The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, the above activities furthering the charity’s purpose in this area.
Achievements and Performance
After many years effort, the Club was finally able to install floodlights on Courts 1 and 2 during the summer of 2022. This has enabled the creation of a thriving midweek social group of over 40 members. The social sessions take place twice weekly, year-round. The floodlights have also allowed members of the Club’s competing squads to practice throughout the winter.
A new smart access system was also installed as part of the floodlight scheme which has increased security and improved the Club’s Pay and Play offering.
The Courts were all repainted and nets replaced which, combined with the improvements made in 2021, have significantly upgraded the fabric of the Club.
Membership increased over the year and in a bid to increase court usage during weekday, daytime hours, a daytime social group was recently formed with members playing twice weekly.
The Club fielded three teams in the North Wales Summer League with around 20 members participating in matches against other clubs across the region.
A number of committee member and trustees decided to step back or reduce their commitment to the Club. Each of the vacant roles have been filled and the Club now has a thriving committee of 16 members.
