Communlty Outreach
Art Gallery Project
Our Art Gallery Project Is ongoing. Although volunteer numbers have dropped we still have core group
who are using the academic framework of queering to offer a new lens to artworks. Activities have
Included:
Label writing
Raising awareness of LGBTQ+ perspeth.ves on art
This project is a long-tem projert and we are plannlng what we are golng to undertake In year 3.
York Soclal* (York - H•nnah)
We have rebranded the York Coffee Social to the York Social. this is to better ￿flect the group. The
change of venue has been a huge Success and we would like to thank the Travellers Trust for being
so Invlting. The York Soclals are currently weekly on Wednesday each month. Our new venue is The
York Travellers Trust and Is packed full of historical features. Attendance has grown significantly
averaglng 25 - 30 people a week. Thankfully, we have plenty of Space to welcome new members of the
community.
In terms of the attendees, we have been reaching more vulnerabSe members of the communlty. Each
month sees a varlety of pre-exi5ting Forum members, regular vlsltors and Indlvlduals who have not
experienced the Forum's events before. We have seen an Increase In emall requests and we have
started to support the partlclpants remotely. Thls often conslsts of bulldlng confldence to attend and
supporting those who did not feel ￿adY to join the group. It is made clear that there is no commitment
needed. Partldpants can come any tlme between 6:30pm and 8:30pm wlth no pressure to stay for the
entlre event.
Members have quoted that the socials a￿ a gateway to other attivities, that the welcome an alcohol-
free event and that it Is friendly. Many members expressed how they can be themselves in the group
wlth no Judgement. A suggestion this year is that we should continue to promote the York soaals in
physical spaces through booklets and physical postings as well as online.
Hannah our coffee Social facilitator says: I truly love facilitating the York Coffee Social and look forward
to what the next year will bring.
Coffee Soclals (Northallerton - CJ)
The Northallerton Soclals have remained steady since going back to an In-person meetlngs and have
continued to grow through the year, attracttng new members via our soaal media presence and word-
of-mouth whilst retaining many of our existing members too. Average attendance Is over 25 per month
and we have seen an increase in local attendan￿ from the towns and villages around Northallerton,
although belng on the East Coast rail-line, makes thi5 grvup accessible to people outside the area too.
We meet In a private room at the front of the Golden Uon Hotel on the 2nd Monday of each month,
6pm - 8pm, where members can buy drinks. a meal, or just call in for a social that in a safe LGBTQ+
space.
