To look at some funding options Tesco Bags for help and Co-op community Fund suggested.
To try an honesty box for sale produce.
Chairman’s Report: It was reported that bat boxes and hedgehog houses had been put in the orchard late 2020. Two signs are still awaiting being put up, it was agreed they be put up at Tesco side.
Further discussion regarding an official path through the orchard was turned down by Tesco.
Fruit has done really well the year and nut trees looking good. There has been some positive feedback from members of the public.
Moving forward:
Some winter maintenance needed, pruning, reed cutting, bramble clearance, Jean suggested advertising an open day for people to bring their own tools and help out. Glen and Dan have their own scythes they can use. It was agreed to do this as a one-off date to be arranged and advertised in Community News.
New plaques for the trees – to ask men in sheds or Secondary School to help out.
More plum and pear trees needed. Carol has 4 small plum trees for the orchard.
To look at updating website and Facebook page, Paul to get details of Facebook page and pass to Nicki and send photos for her to update.
To look at trying some pocket allotment plots and employing someone to teach people how to grow their own, using grant funding.
Moving Home Grown Hornsea on outside the orchard, to hold part 2 of the previously agreed conferences. Suggested date in Spring 2022, Jean to ask URC if it is something they would allow to be held there and to work with Christchurch Bridlington on getting same speakers/bands etc. as used at Bridlington’s Eco Summit. To encourage working partnerships with Plastic Free Hornsea and CLIPS. To advertise through Radio Humberside and Hornsea Community Paper.
Correspondence: A number of e mails received, believed to be a private matter regarding two people falling out. Home Grown Hornsea do not wish to be drawn into this and a suggested email response agreed to be sent by Alan Tharratt.
