Our Structure, Governance and Management
Empathy Action is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The only voting member5 are its charity trustees, who are
appolnted by the exi5tillB trustees. The Iharity wa5 re%i5tered on lune 16th, 2015. Empathy Artion is ntsn)%ed by its
founder Director Ben Solanky and run by its full-time and part-time volunteers who recelve no tlnancial
remuneration except for expenses properly Incurred In the course of their voluntsry activity that fall withln the
guidelines laid down in its expenses policy.

experiential learninR DPPOrtunitie5 which enable participantsto develop their understandlnR of poverty. and

part of the solutlon throuRh, for example, the donatlon ofskills or flnancial resources or the sale ofhandlcraft&
Empathy Actlon's exper5entlal actlvlties Include SiTnulations of the life experience5 of disadvantaRed and
Mar￿naliSed %roups around the world. These simulations are actlvliles that allow partlciponts to walk In the shoes of
those Ilvlng In extreme poverty and refu%ees. Thesp alm to help the public better understand the needs of people
facinR such situation5 by offering a small %limpse into the reality faced by millions worldwide. The experipn¢es are
used to stimulate discllssion about how participants can contribute Sn thelr personal and proFe5slonal Ilve5 to poverty
relief initiatives and respond to humanitsrian need through volunteering, or dcnatinKKoods, skills or rtnanclal
resource5.
The measures put In place to contaln the Covid 19 pandeTnic disrupted many of our programmes which requlre
access to schools and face to face contsrt with pupils. Empathy Action sought innovatlve and creatlve ways to
Implement our mlssion In rhe crlsis. These Included the development of'The High Life,, a climate justice simulation
that is available for schools and other group5 to Use by downloading the material fvom our webslte

Expendllure on simulations was similar lo prior year despite 8n increase In 8CtSvSty. There w8s more
expenditure on consLtllancy lo deliver Desperdle Joumeys. Office, administratDn and govemance cosls
re £2,$00 n￿re than the previous year.
Balance sheet
Fixed assets represents one computer which Is now fulty depreciated. Total stock of hand￿raftS decreased from the
previou5 ye8r al￿ thtsre L8 one signrfi¢ant (Jebtor to the Val￿ of £1,850. the bank balance at £27,531 is iwreased
ty £8.436. Eesignated Funds increased ty £3,110, wrth Thj reconled exFeThdi(ure, and General Funts iwreased by
£3,321.
