The charity chose to focus on this<br>area, due to being such a highly relevant issue as the<br>world faced the impacts of global pandemic, COVID-19.<br>During the year, Think Pacific Foundation worked with<br>remote<br>communities<br>to<br>achieve<br>the building and<br>completion of three health centres, in poor and rural<br>communities in Fiji. All materials and local planning and<br>labour costs were funded by the foundation.  These projects<br>advance health and wellbeing in rural areas, including helping<br>to facilitate the vaccination roll out in the Fiji Islands.<br>The following video link shows the construction of one of<br>the health centres, completed in June 2021 in Narikoso<br>village. This video was shared to donors to update on the<br>progress:https://vimeo.com/443372262<br>Additional support was provided<br>to<br>facilitate<br>local<br>training<br>and<br>youth<br>empowerment<br>initiatives<br>for<br>unemployed and disadvantaged youth in Fiji. The charity<br>also provided donations to support communities suffering<br>damage due to cyclones and assist local relief projects.<br>Think<br>Pacific<br>Foundation<br>provided all<br>grants<br>to<br>Think<br>Pacific<br>Foundation<br>(Fiji)<br>which<br>is<br>a<br>separate local<br>registered<br>charitable<br>trust<br>in<br>the Fiji<br>Islands (FJ<br>989)<br>in<br>order<br>to<br>achieve the<br>projects aims.|

## **Achievements and Performance**

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|Through the grants provided by Think<br>Pacific Foundation during the year, the<br>charity was able to facilitate several<br>core objects to improve the lives of<br>people living in hardship.  These<br>included:<br>**Improving local infrastructure**<br>Donations were used to providethe<br>entire construction of three health centre<br>buildings. The achievement of these<br>projects enables the village nurse to<br>have a facility to provide consultations<br>and also act as a secure dispensary for<br>medicines.  The project is supported by<br>the Fijian Ministry of Health, who Think<br>Pacific Foundation (Fiji) sought advise<br>and endorsement before completing to<br>ensure the facilities meet national<br>standards and directives for health.<br>Health Clinics were completed in<br>Naqelecibi Village and Narikoso village<br>and Namoli Village, all in the remote Ra<br>province, which was heavily impacted<br>by cyclone damage in recent years.|

## **Health Training & Advocacy:** 

Alongside the building of the facilities, grant funding was provided to support the training of local people in first aid training and promote advocacy of health in conjunction with Fiji Red Cross.  The aim was to advance local knowledge and skills as well as promote awareness of health in remote and poor areas. Fiji is a country with one of the highest rates of non-communicable disease and awareness campaigns are vital to reduce this national issue, which particularly impacts poorer communities. **Youth Empowerment** Think Pacific donated education and sports resources to enable 57 youths to engage in a youth leadership and empowerment project focused on developing life skills and employment prospects to young men and women living in hardship.  The programmes were delivered for youth groups of Nabudrau Village, Namoli Village and Naqelecibi Village **Cyclone Relief & Resilience** Think Pacific Foundation made grants to local Fijian organisations to support initiatives to help communities impacted by cyclones. This included projects to provide shelter, agriculture support and healthcare resources. .
