TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT
YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025
The trustees present their report and the unaudiied Accounts of the chariry for the year ended 31 August 2025.
REFERENCE Af4D ADMIIYISTRATIVE DETAILS
Reference and administrative details are shown in the schedule ofcharity information on page l of the a¢¢ounts.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Chariry is a Charitable Incorporaied Organisation (foundation model) and is governed by the consiitution
adopted on 23 March 2015.
Every trustee must be appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting
of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as chariry trustee5. the charity trustees must have
regard to the skills, know, ledge and experi¢nce needed for the effectiv¢ administration of the CIO.
OWECTJVES AND ACTIVITIES
The objects of the CIO are..
(al To enhance ihe dev¢loprnent and educaiion of children under statutory school age (except in exceptional
circumstances), who are severely handicapped, disabled or in condition5 of need, hardship or distress, by
en¢oura¥in¥ parents to understand and io provide for the needs of their children, and by'.-
{1) Offering appropriate facilities.
(li) Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and to promote public
interest in and recognition of su¢h needs in the Selby District.
{b) To promot¢ the relief of parenis or other person5 having charge of such children by the provision of
facilities for the care of such children.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The Nursery has a dedicated teaTn w-.ho continue io delii'er a high standard of care. for both the children and their
farnilies. Despite the increase in challenges the), i¥ork hard lo ensure all the children achieve the besi possible
outcomes. The Nursery a150 ha5 a lo)'al group of iolunieers ihai 5UPPQrt in the setting and the charity shop. The charily
shop is ihankfullv Ihriiing and proi'ides i'iial financial suppon for the Nurserj. The Nurserv has a150 b¢nefilted thi5
year from the creation of 8 5ensory' room, which was funded and insialled bv British Gas. This included a new boiler,
cotnpleie rem'iring and equipmtnt for the sensory room. These improvem¢nts hai'e helped to rnaintain and incTea5e the
value of the nursery, something Ihe seiiing i¥ould have been unabl¢ to afford to fund without the support of Briiish
Gas.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The financial p05ltion gf the nursery 15 carefully monitor¢d and is at pr¢s¢nt within the reserve l¢v¢15 agreed on
the policy.
The nursery fees are down this year due partly to the high level tsf care required by a number of the children.
coupled with limited funding, which continu¢s to b¢ a concern. The 105s of the long-standing NHS donation has
also impacted greatly on the income for ihe setting.
The staffing costs remain high for the nursery, with increases in minimum wage and the associated costs. along
with the difficulty recruiting mak¢ this a challenging time.
The income from the charity shop has decreased slightly this year but is st511 providing a vital and much
app'reciated contribution to Nursery fund5. Wlth an upturn in takings during the latter part of the year.
Fundraising is still particularly Challenging, but the nursery is still very thankfvl to the community members and
organisations who have eoniinued io support ihe charity.
With a new fundraising initiative being put in place, thi5 will hopefully give acces5 to further funding in the near
future.
