Achievements and performance in the year
During the year to 31" August 2025, BSC has sU￿ess[u1IY ac*tieved ts rnaiolity of the plans and
objectives outlined in last yearfs annual ￿porL We have:
Offered and delivered successful ¢onsultan¢y. oxhing, and training to churches church
members tho are connecting with their local schools (and their associated ￿rider coMm￿lties)
and heading up different sthcK)Vcommunrty projectstinfomal W￿$s1¢>n5 of thurch.
We have connected with people and churches all over the Bristol area, ofkn with one-off
consultancy advice. We have also I￿)rked for longer peric<ls of time wtth churches in the
following areas: Easton, Hotssells and Hart)ourside, Fishponds. Bedminster, Lockleaze.
Avonmouth and Lawren￿ Weston, sowKI￿lI, Totterdown, Bistwston, Clifton. Stapleton and
Frenchay. Claverhamlcleeve, Wck. Pucklecthurch. Sh1￿haMptOn, Backwell. Wntert)oume,
Bishopsworth. Langwell Green. &JAhvdle. and Southmead.
We encouraged thurches in tre Bristol area to use our reSoU￿s- Christrnas in a Box and
Easter in a Box We ran several training sessions online and in person. In the Bristol area we saw
a slight decrease in the number of thurches delivering Easter in a Box- The Movie, due to
churches choosing to vary wtr￿t they were offeting to schools this year- e.g. themed trailslspeaal
services. Across the wunty we saw an increase in the number of churthes and schools taking
part in both Chrisknas arKI Easter in a BOK We suptx)rted nume￿$ churches who connected
th schools in other ways duri￿ Ihe Christrnas and Easter Peric￿1, example running trails,
seasonal themed prayer spaces, one off lesS￿S, assemblies. special services. We have supplied
our Chrisknas and Easter Trail reSoU￿S to a few churches. and made these resources more
readily available on our website downEoad page.
We have ran a couple of online training sessions on how to host a Jesus Ckn of the Box session in
your local school. We have supwted a clwrches running Jesus Out of the Box for the first
time in the Bristol area and from acmss the county. We have restyjrced tsvo sets of boxes which
can be loaned OLrt to thurches. The uptake for this reS￿ree has been sbwer than we had hoped,
but the feedback from Ihose have run sessions has been wonderful.
We ran a Prayer Spaces in Sthools training sessi(m and also hosted 'come and sea. leaming
session - where people could see a prayer Spa￿ in action at a sckK)ol. Our training focusses
equally on indoor and outdoor prdyer spa￿. We have 35 trTred and tesied Outd¢)or Prayer Space
activities. whith we freely give to others-1hese a￿ also on the Prayer Spaces in Schools
webstte. Several people have been inspired by the training session and consequently have run
their own prayer spaces since the training. We have joumeyed wtth a couple of people in the
process of nmning their first prayer Spa￿ in a sclml. As part of a DI0￿San Staff Training Day we
ran an Outdoor Prayer Space whith wbled the staff to experience first hand the beneffts of an
outdoor prayer space. We also ran a prayer Spa￿ in schools training sessions at Trinity College,
Bristol Baptist College arKI for a whole staff te￿ (tsvilight inset) at a Primary Sd)ool in South
Bristol.
We have continued to partner V￿ttl EnC(￿nter Christianty to ensure that ther8 is joined up
thinking and strategy, wilh reganls to Christian SCh￿Is work in the Bristol area. We have had
regular contact wtth the Eead v￿rkers. and have t￿nected them with thurcheslpeople vtho could
work with them in local contexts.
We have also Work￿ closely wth Mullers and s￿le of their net4vork thurches on a pilot Bristol
Illurninate Sctrthls Tour- in an advisory and conneding The Bristol Illuminate Tour is due to
tske place in Qrtober 2025.

We hosted a wonderful Celebration arKI Prayer GatrEring to celebrate Bristol Schools
Connection's 101h B'lrthday! &pporters and friends of BSC gathered to celebrate all that has
happened witrt BSC in the last 10 years and through the nehvork of churches across Bristol. We
listened to insFxring stories, prayed together, thought more about the theology behind the work
(thanks to our speaal guest Howard Worsw) and ate w(*Jings!
We have also helped to host a of ¢ity wide prayer gatsrings with other organisations in
Bristol - praying for youth, children and scFyx)Is (Induding pupils and sthol sfaff and those
working in Ed￿atIon). VIÈ also md online in eaty December to pray for those churches
connecting in various ways ¥￿th their local S￿￿ls{S￿￿X)I ¢ornmunity in the run up to Christmas.
This also happ￿￿ed n the run up to Easter.
Over the Swnmer months we had a ￿ one-t(kone meetings reviewing the work they have been
involved in as local thurch with their ]ocal s(*KX)l{s). These meetings have been helpfvl and
encouraging for these people.
Our Social media presence has been consistenty good this year- have followed a social

are communif2tsd, am(ngst adverttstng wr training events and signposting to other good

Jane Gillis has had numerous opp)rtunities to speak at various events. churches. gatherings and
forums about vision and heart as a Cl￿rity. These have been cnline and in person. Our aim is
to envision and influence the ￿ltUre of the C￿rch in relation to being and doing church in the
context of the 5th￿1 and ￿S wrder cornmunty. also aim to explore this in our one-tcFone
conversations throughout the year Imth thurch volunteers and leaders that we work with.
le have been able (with others e.g. Bristol Chaplaincy and Bristol DI0￿Se) to encourage the
concept of school chaplaincy (fomial or info￿al. volunteer or paid) across our netsvork. A couple
of the people we work with have embraced this concept and embodied it more in the Itfe of the
schcol(s) they are working with. We have been * to support rthvly wnFAoyed chaplains in the
work that tsy are dotng in Sd￿1$ and ttpir wnmunity.
We have b￿rked in partnership with a ra)ge of denom1natio￿- including C of E, Baptis( Free
Evangelical, Methodist Catholic. and the Mullers Netwoth of Churches. We are frequently
encouragirKJ thurches to ￿rk together in a kKal area to support their local sth¢)ols.
We have also been involved in the develowient (* a nav programme designed to equip
incumbents to prioritise engaging with children, youTrJ people and families in treir communitses.
The course is run and our contribulion is funded by Trinty Theological Col*e and other partnèr
organisations. We s￿￿)rted the first pik)t course Nthi¢h ran from January 2025 to June 2025- it

Financial review
Financial pofft+rniance
Following a deficit last year. BSC started 2024r25 with projected
expenditure exceeding pledged in¢ome by £5.01￿. We are very grateful
to the new irKlividual dcrnrs and churches along with ongoing
dc￿orS, have provided £4,000 of income over our In￿81 projection. This
income was boosted by the receipt of a secorKI £4,000 annual grant from
Christ Church CIFfton. In addrtion, BSC r￿1Ved £3,600 to re￿ftburse the
cost of ￿￿rk ￿mIertaken at Trinty Theological College.
Total expenditure was redU￿d by 6% to £32,200 without the
develownent expenses Jesus of the Box arising trom its launch
last year. Overall there was a sutplus of £8200 (2023124 deficit-
£4,300).
We have already received a gmt of £10.f￿ from the Burden Trust
which means the trustees aiticipate being ￿le to break even in 2025r26
Pfior to any areas of experKltiure.
In order to ftmd further expansion in BSC'S activiiies, we hope to Continue
to increase the number of churches which support BSC financially and
that individual SUF¥)Orters will increase their giving in line with inflation.
We remain aware of the fflan
constraints ¢)n famil bud ets at this time.
BSC remains reliant each year on fin￿cial gifts from individua]s. trusts
and churches within Bristol aTrJ beyond which can be on￿Off. ongoing or
for a limited period. Given this dependerKy, the ￿SteeS believe it
appropriate to target reserves at approximalely six months of annual
expendiiure plus any b￿geted deficit for the next year.
The reserves at 31. August 2025 Yme £27.0￿ (2024 £19,OW). The
projected ewdFbJre for 2025126 is £36,000 giving a reserves tsrget of
£18,000 given the break even budget (2024 targ8t £21,OCM)). Reserves
therefore represented 150% (2024 9J%) of target.
The Irustees consider this level of reserves reasonable.

chaiity's policy on reserves
