Strnetur•. Governance and Manag•ment
The charity was estsblished by a goveming document {ConsbtutK)n) adopted on 23 February 2014. It was
formed in order to acqui￿ the assets and liabilities of St Columba's United Refomied Church. Oxford. an
ex¢epted chanty.
Addib"onal trustees may be app)inted by the church meeting: all new trustees are offered appropriate training
in order to fulfil their ro￿.
ObJectiv•s and activities
The obJe¢t of the chanty is the advancement of the Christian fr4ith for the tEnefft of the public. in accordance
with the Scheme of Union ol the United Refomied Church. It carries out this purFrf)se by providing a place
where all are welcome to participate in regukr public worship.
The char￿Y seNes the whole communty by hiring out premises and providing servus for a w¢de range of
community groups and actNities. It has an acb.ve ministy within the LGBT community, which is being
developed by the char￿$ Outreach Worf(er.
A¢hi•v•ments and perfonnanc•
The charity has maintsined a regular patteffl of worship and wilness to ts memters and to the wider
eommunty, ts)th through worship in the church buildings, and through services and other activities provided
online. Numbers participab.ng in reguiar Sunday worship. notably students and younger people. have held up
well. and several House Groups have also met on a regular basis.
Rlsk managem•nt
The principal risks the chanty may face are perceived to be In￿equate hjture funding and the possibilrty of
safeguarding IssL￿ arising in dealing with children and vulnerable adults.
The Finance and Propety Commrttee regularly monrtors the income from member contributions and from
future potent'al hiring income. as well as keeping a tKJht rein on premises expenditure., appropriate
safeguarding measures remain in place.

Flnancial Revlew
All the assets aThJ liabilths of St Columba'5 Unrted Reformed Church. Oxford were transferred to the charjty
on 28 February 2016.
Income for the year included legac￿5 of £10.500. and totalled £162.49012022 £136.4631,' expenditure totalled
£161,87612022 £136,372), and induded the installatron of a new audio visual system al a cost of £16,381. The
resulting surplus of £61412022 surplus of £91} ha5 tten added to reserves, resuth'ng in funds carried forward
of £132,224, of which £5,949 were restricted fvnds
Voluntary income, mostly from church members, held up well. and income from hirings for the year increased
to £56,215 {2022 £44,863). The only abnomial rtem of expendi￿re was the AV system referred to above.
The Trustees are satisfied that the unrestricted fund balance of £124,9)8. representing almost 12 months of
nonnal expenditure, is more than adequate lo underpin future aclNities, and accordingty that the charity
remains a going coneem for at least 12 months fr(*n the date of s￿nIng this ￿pOrt.
Plans for Future Perfod8
The emphasis of the charity will continue to be on keeping its worshipper5 together, by means of worship and
other resources delivered online andlor in the church building5, and to develop fvrther its outreach focussed on
the wider community, in fvrtherance of its core obiecbves.
SLitement of Tru8tees' Responslbllities
The Trustees are resF(￿s1b1e for preparing the Rewrt of the Trustees and financkal statements in accordance
with applicable law and regUlat￿n$.
Charity law requires the Trustees to wepare financial ststements for each financHI year. Under that law the
Trustees have elected to p￿pare the financial statements in accordan￿ wth Unrted Kingdom Generally
Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under charity law
the Trustees must not approve the firtancpl statements unless they are s*"sr￿d that they give a true and fair
view of the stste of affairs of the chanty and of the incoming resources and applicabon of resources of the
charity for that period. In preparing those financial slatements, the Trustees are required lo select suitable
accounting policies and then apply them consistentjy.. make judgements and esb"rnates that are reasonable
and prudent-, and prepare the financial ststernents on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to
presume that the chanty wll continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which dixlose with reasonable accuracy
at any lime the financ￿1 F(ssition of the chanty. They are atso responsible for safeguarding the assets of the
charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the preventson and detects.on of fraud and other irregularities.
So far as the Trustees a￿ aware, there is no ￿leVant infomiation (infomiat￿n needed by the independent
examiner in connection with preparing his report) of which the charity's examiner is unaware. and each Trustee
has taken all the steps that he or she ought to have taken in ordef to make themselves aware of any relevant
information aryj to establish that the examiner i% aware of that infomatK*n.
Indepondont Examiner
lan Parkinson has signrf*d his wtllingness lo contsnue in office and a resolution to re-apFoint him as examiner
will be proposed at the forthcoming annual general meeting.
