14[th] November 2024
Dear fellow Trustees
Village Hall Finances: year from 1[st] October 23 to end September 24
Incomes:
Hall hires: The year 23/24 was broadly in line with the year previous. We now have the new hirer rates in place since 1[st] September 2024 and, to date, we have not received any adverse comments.
100 Club: Many thanks to Brenda Mustoe for running this valuable fund raising activity. In a full month, £63.50 is paid out in prizes and an equal amount comes to the village hall funds.
Fund raising events: Since 1[st] October 2023: Big increase in this area and this is made up as follows: Thanks to the team for the quiz nights (two) and the contribution of £1,046 made from these and the movie nights (two held to date) contributing some £220 so far. The new roof fund is off to flying start (£2313 total to date) from Eat Your Way Round the World and the Tea Dance…..!!
Deposit account / interest earner : I am considering how best to set up a deposit account(s) and earn some interest on our cash held in the bank. Will report further in due course.
Donations / grants: The figure includes the collecting tins (thanks to Pat for checking these month in, month out), and miscellaneous amounts such as the repayment of laundry costs and a couple of anonymous donations.
Expenditures:
Please find attached a spreadsheet detailing the main items.
Energy: We have taken the decision to install smart meters and we are in discussion with an energy broker to see if entering fixed term contracts with gas and electricity suppliers would be to our advantage. The energy markets are more
settled just now. I will bring any proposals to the Committee for consideration.
Overall: Good to see the hall being used and presenting well. Great team effort. We do need to keep an eye on attracting more hirers and keeping our costs down wherever we can. You will see from the accounts summary, on a day to day basis, our expenditure exceeds our hall hire incomes.
The return to the Charity Commission for the year ending September 2024: This will be lodged.
Thanks everyone
Regards
John
