||||||(Reference should be made to the|

||||||inception ofthe Trust).|
|Summary
ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity,||||Para 1.20|In the period covered by this Report the|
|identifying|the|difference the|||activities ofthe Trust were severely|
|charity's|work|has made to|||curtailed
by the Covid pandemic.
In|
|the circumstances|||of its||accordance with statutory
requirements|
|beneficiaries
and|||any wider||the sports centre and the associated|
|benefits to society as a|||||football pitches were closed for normal|
|whole.|||||use between
March 2020 and August|
||||||2020, between
November
2020 and|
||||||December 2020, and between January|
||||||2021 and April 2021.|
||||||Under the terms ofthe management|
||||||Contract with Stevenage
Leisure|
||||||Limited (SLL)it continued
to bear|
||||||responsibility
for the staff and for all|
||||||health and safety measures
needed to|
||||||protect the staff and visitors.
The|
||||||Trustees kept up a regular engagement|
||||||with SLLthroughout
and were fully|
||||||consulted
at all times.|
||||||Once the facilities were permitted
to re-|
||||||open for use itwas necessary to|
||||||observe social distancing,
to instigate|
||||||extra cleaning and health safety|
||||||measures,
and to limit the number of|
||||||people using the facilities. These were|
||||||all managed
by SLLfollowing|
||||||consultation
with the Trustees.
Despite|
||||||these limitations
the support
from the|
||||||membership
using the facilities was|
||||||very encouraging
and the facilities were|
||||||used to the full. There was also little|
||||||drop-off in membership
with very few|
||||||resignations
or withdrawals
ofsupport.|
||||||(In fact, since the ending ofthe third|
||||||lock-down
period the number of users|
||||||ofthe facilities has returned
to pre-|
||||||pandemic
levels already).|
||||||The relaxing ofrestrictions
also meant|
||||||that the cafe was able to reopen for use|
||||||by both sports users, non-sports
users,|
||||||and by casual users. The cafe has|
||||||become something
ofa meeting
place|
||||||for the village.|
||||||One very encouraging
aspect this year|
||||||was the renewal ofinterest
in cricket as|
||||||witnessed
b
the re-startin
ofthe|

|Silsoe Village Cricket Club. Although|
|---|
|the cricket pitch is still owned
by the|
|site developers
the Trust was able to|
|take over effective control ofthis area|
|which has been managed
and|
|maintained
by the Trust and the Cricket|
|Club working together.
The Trust was|
|also able to assist the Cricket Club with|
|new equipment
(mowers and tractors)|
|and with storage facilities.
The|
|arrangements
remain
informal
at|
|present pending
the handover
ofthe|
|land by the site developers
but it has|
|been heartening
tosee cricket back in|
|the centre ofthe village.|
|The village continues to benefit from the|
|presence ofthese recreation facilities.|

|||||pitch.
Negotiations
for this are|
|||||continuing.
It had been hoped that this|
|||||matter would
have been settled by now.|
|||||A further
problem
which affects the|
|||||facilities is the rising level of vandalism|
|||||and anti-social
behaviour
within the|
|||||village.
This is being addressed
but|
