## **Burkina Faso monitoring visit report: 25/6/2024 to 30/6/2024**

## **Participants: Abdul Qudeir Khan and Haroon Latif**

- **25th June 2024:**

Our flight from Manchester, scheduled for the evening, was delayed by an hour, causing us to miss our connecting flight in Casablanca. Consequently, we had to stay in Casablanca for a day.

## • **27th June 2024:**

We finally arrived at Ouagadougou Airport at 1:10 AM, where we were welcomed by Sheikh Abdullah and representatives from Islamique de Niamanga. After a short drive, we checked into our hotel. Due to the delay, we now had only three days left in Burkina Faso.

After an early breakfast, we returned to the airport to collect our visas and passports. Unfortunately, the visas sent from Brussels never arrived, so we had to purchase new ones on-site. Later, we visited the proposed school site and had an informal meeting with staff members of Islamique de Niamanga.

## • **28th June 2024:**

Accompanied by representatives from Islamique de Niamanga, we did some essential shopping. Since it was Friday, we took the afternoon off for some much-needed rest.

## • **29th June 2024:**

Our final day began early. We attended the end-ofyear assembly and high school graduation, which was well-attended by local dignitaries, councillors, teachers, students, and their families. In the evening, we held a meeting with the charity, delivered trustee training, and participated in a rice distribution event. During this event, individuals exchanged tokens for 15kg bags of rice, while those without specific tokens received 5kg bags. Around 500 bags were distributed.
