Achievements and performance
Grants to several charities in Lafvia were issued during the period.
Summary ofthe maln
achievements of the
charity during the
year
Giving for Latvia has expanded its activities towards facilitating dialogue in the
Latvian society and working towards prevention of any type of abuse including
emotional, and towards inclusion of all individuals disregarding their backgrounds.
Our contributions are also tsilored to strengthen the role of charitable sertor in
Latvia..
Free copies of a book by Nomegian psychologist Hedvig Montgomery (full
series of 5 books) and How to talk so kids will listen and how to listen so
kids will talk by Adele Faber I￿0 books of the series) have been
distributed for free in 2021122123 and 202510 75 charilies that work with
parents and children. These charities have committed to lend the books to
their members and subsequently arrange discussions to engage parents
on the lopic of modern parenting approaches. Work on the next books in
the series continues.
We continue to support prelpost-natal depression charity
Debesmanna.com that organizes Children's Mental Health Week in Latvia
though series of free of Gharge webinars for parents with the leading
specialists in Lafvia. During early 2025 they hosted their 5th annual event
and expanded cooperation with schools in Latvia that engaged pupils.
We continue a multi-year project of bringing letterboard alternative
communication method to Latvia, that gives back Vol￿ to non-speaking
aulistic individuals who have apraxia. As part of infonning the Lafvian
society about the alternative communication method for nonspeaking
people on the autistic spectrum, but also to expand the understanding of
autistic spectrum in Latvia (there are currently 10 books in Latvian
available on the theme of autism), we had teamed up with a publishing
house in Latvia to translate into Lalvian and publish book "Ido in
Autismland.. written on a letterboard by a nonspeaking author. Three
Giving for Lafvia volunteers took on the responsibility of translating the
book into Latvian. In early 2025 the book was finally printed and thanks to
donations and in coordination with the Latvian Autism Association
dislributed free of charge to 720 Latvian public libraries, 620 schools and
circa 620 kindergartens, 37 special needs schools, several day centres for
special needs people, social services units, hospitals with specialists that
work with children on autistic spectrum, among others, and the 75
children's and
rents, charities.
